Student answer (Band 6.0)
Technology is moving forward quite frequently and expeditely, making us believe that anything is possible in this world. We are slowly entering into the era where we are met with the driverless vehicles, which include not only cars, but also buses and trucks. Passengers are going to be the only people in those vehicles while traveling. While this would an huge accomplishment in the tech world, every advancement comes with a price.
In my opinion, I firmly believe the advantages of driverless vehicles easily outweigh the disadvantages. Given my personal expererience, it has cost the jobs to so many indiviaduals whose livelihoods depended on it. Additionally, the next generation would not be able to learn the skill of driving their own cars and being independent of technology. Another con to the technology include limited access to the workshops. A passenger cannot determine whether the car is going to break down in the middle of the journey unless the car notifies about the danger. It could be a serious problem and can lead to many unwanted accidents on the roads.
In contrast to this, while these limitations exist, it is still one of the greatest innovation in the modern World. In the events of any collisions on the road, where the person on the driver's seat is at risk the wole time facing with most impact, this future technology will reduce the chance of fatal injuries, keeping the person in the passenger's seat realtively safe.
Therefore, to conclude, this technology needs a trials and tests method with the audience first. By factoring in the pros and reducing the cons, this could perhaps be the most beneficial technology in the future times.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you address both sides of the question. You identify relevant drawbacks, including job losses, dependence on technology, and the risk of a vehicle failing to alert passengers, then contrast these with the potential for fewer fatal injuries in collisions. However, the advantages are less fully developed than the disadvantages: the safety point is the only clear benefit, and it would be stronger with an explanation or example of how automation could prevent crashes. The claim about reduced injuries also needs qualification, since driverless technology may reduce some risks but cannot guarantee passenger safety. Develop the benefits and explain why they outweigh the costs more explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting concerns, a contrast paragraph, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “In contrast to this,” and “Therefore” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the progression is not always smooth. The second paragraph lists several disadvantages without clearly connecting them, and the shift from job losses to driving skills and vehicle breakdowns feels abrupt. The conclusion introduces trials and tests, an idea not developed earlier, rather than directly weighing the arguments already presented. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example to the main claim so the argument develops more steadily.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “driverless vehicles,” “livelihoods,” “fatal injuries,” and “collisions,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Given my personal experience” and “By factoring in the pros and reducing the cons.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “expeditely,” “expererience,” “indiviaduals,” “wole,” and “realtively.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “limited access to the workshops” and “a trials and tests method.” Choose more conventional collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary sound more controlled and appropriate to an academic argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession beginning “While these limitations exist” and a relative clause describing collisions. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “While this would an huge accomplishment” is missing a verb and has an incorrect article; “Another con to the technology include” has subject–verb disagreement; and “this technology needs a trials and tests method” has an article and number problem. The long sentence beginning “In the events of any collisions” is also difficult to control. Review articles, agreement, and singular/plural forms, and break complex sentences into clearer units when needed.
