Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the topic and give relevant points on both sides: job losses and possible system failures are disadvantages, while improved road safety is an advantage. However, your position on whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages is not made clear; the conclusion merely says there are “advantages and disadvantages.” The ideas are also very briefly explained, with no specific example or developed comparison of their importance. The response is below the required 250 words: it contains 168 words, and the 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, state your view directly, explain why one side is more significant, and develop each main point with a realistic example and its consequences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to disadvantages, advantages and a conclusion, so the reader can identify the main sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: points are listed rather than connected and explained. The repeated opening “On the other hand” for both the disadvantages and advantages is inaccurate, since the second paragraph is presenting a contrast to the first. Some links between ideas are also unclear, particularly “Another problem technology…” and the abrupt move from job losses to workers’ skills. Use linking phrases that show the actual relationship between points, and build each paragraph around one main idea followed by explanation or an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “driverless vehicles,” “road safety,” “accidents,” and “software,” which makes the general subject understandable. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several noticeable word-choice or word-form errors make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “force financial problem” does not clearly express the financial impact, and “job lesses” is not an accurate phrase for unemployment. “The drivers don’t know other skill” also communicates an idea, but not precisely. Aim to learn common collocations for employment, technology and safety, and choose more exact terms such as “job losses,” “financial hardship,” and “system failure.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences use simple structures, and the basic meaning is often recoverable, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inaccurate in “this idea have” and “driverless vehicles can causes.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “The many people lose their job” and “Another problem technology, software or computer system stops working.” The sentence about accidents—“like driving very fast, drinking alcohol and drive time sleeping”—does not form a complete, clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses such as “because” and “if.” Check agreement, articles and plural forms when editing.
