Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the future, driverless car become a common part of our daily lives, with car buses and trucks without human drivers. Although this development has several disadvantages, I believe that the advantages outweigh them because of improved road safety and greater convenience.

To embark on, there are plethora of benefits of driverless cars. Out of which the predominent one is, they could reduce car accidents cause by human errors, such as speeding, careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Since automated vehicles used sensors and advanced technology through which they could detect obstacles and follow traffic rules. They made road safer for passengers amd pedestrians. The second benefit is, people could use their time more productively. For instance, they could finish their office work, they could read books or relax themselves instead of concentrating of driving. Furthermore, driveless cars should be beneficial for elderly people and individuals with disabilities. Ans they would able to travel independently without relying on others.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages associated with technology. The first and formost one is, driveless cars may be expensive to purchase and maintain, and making them unaffordable for middle class people. Secondly, technical issues can cause big road accidents. If and sensor fails or they fail to recognise the obstacles it can increase risk for passengers as well as pedestrians. It could make passengers life at risk. In addition, the widespread use of autonomous vehicles may result in unemployment among professional drivers, taxi drivers, bus drivers. This could creates financial difficulties that depend on this occupation.

In conclusion, although driverless vehicles may cause technological problems and unemployment, I believe their advantages outweigh disdavantages. If government introduce strict safety regulations and provide suitable training opportunities for workers. This technolgy could make transportation safer, easier and more efficient in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and you maintain this view in the conclusion. You address both sides of the question and give relevant reasons, including fewer accidents, greater convenience, affordability, technical failures and possible job losses. The examples of passengers working or reading help explain convenience, while the safety discussion identifies specific human errors. This fits a response that covers the task and supports its main ideas. Some points, however, are asserted rather than fully developed: for example, the claim that automated vehicles will make roads safer would be stronger with an explanation of how their systems prevent or respond to mistakes. The employment and cost concerns could also be weighed more explicitly against the benefits to reinforce your overall judgement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. The progression from your stated position to supporting reasons is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the main shifts clear. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “The first…” and “Secondly,” and the advantages paragraph contains several points joined in a list-like way. The opening phrase “Out of which” does not connect smoothly to the previous sentence, and “Ans” leaves the reference to elderly and disabled travellers unclear. To strengthen cohesion, use a wider range of natural transitions and make links between claims and explanations explicit, rather than relying mainly on sequencing phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “automated vehicles,” “sensors,” “technical issues,” “unemployment” and “safety regulations.” These terms help communicate the main arguments, and you attempt some less common expressions such as “under the influence of alcohol” and “financial difficulties.” At times, however, word choice, collocation and spelling are inaccurate: “predominent,” “driveless,” “disdavantages” and “technolgy” are misspelled, while “finish their office work” and “concentrating of driving” are not natural combinations. “Big road accidents” is also imprecise for an academic argument. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision. Check spelling carefully and learn topic vocabulary in common word partnerships, such as “complete work” and “focus on driving.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction (“Although this development has several disadvantages…”) and conditional structures such as “If a sensor fails…”. This shows some range, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction recur. For example, “driverless car become” needs a plural noun and matching verb, while “Since automated vehicles used sensors” has an incorrect verb form. “They would able to travel” is missing “be,” and “This could creates” uses the wrong verb form. The fragment “If government introduce strict safety regulations…” also needs to be joined to the following sentence or made complete. Aim to check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and revise sentence boundaries so that complex ideas remain grammatically complete.
