Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, people are using vehicles as per their need. However, in the upcoming years, all cars, public transports and trucks will be driverless. People who travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers only. I believe there will be several drawbacks of these situation. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this trend before giving my opinion.

One major advantage of driverless vehicles are that people can travel anywhere on their own time. This can lead to self awareness and make people responsible for themselves. For example, if people have to do self driving then they have to be aware of their surroundings. They have to be more active insted of relaxing and chilling when they were passenger. Moreover, if public transport will be driverless than people will face many difficulties. However, it would be good for our environment too. It reduces polltion and more and more people are encourage to do cycling, which will be benificial for their health.

However, there are also some disadvantages. One drawbacks is that it would be difficult for them who do not know how to drive car. As a result, they are unable to deal with traffic and driving. Also, they have to travel by bus and other transport for that they have to maintain their schedule. For instance, many road accidents can occur dur to lack of knowledge of driving. Parents do not allow their children a vehicles if they do not have liscence.

In conclusion, although there are some disadvantages. I believe the advantage outweigh them because reducing vehicles on the road help to reduce pollution. More people are used either cycle or choose to go by walk. It takes our environment clean and healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view in the introduction and conclusion: you believe the disadvantages exist but that the benefits, especially reduced pollution, outweigh them. You also attempt to discuss both sides. However, the response only partially addresses the central issue because several points do not explain the effects of vehicles being driverless. For example, “people can travel anywhere on their own time” and the discussion of cycling are not clearly linked to automation, while the claim that passengers must know how to drive conflicts with the premise that they will not be driving. Develop a few relevant points—such as safety, accessibility, or employment—and explain how they support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. Nevertheless, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from personal responsibility to public transport, pollution, and cycling without showing how these ideas connect. Some links are also confusing, particularly “Moreover, if public transport will be driverless than people will face many difficulties,” which is followed by a contrasting environmental benefit. Group related points together and use clearer cause-and-effect links so the argument develops more steadily.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “driverless vehicles,” “public transport,” “road accidents,” and “pollution.” There are also attempts at less common expressions such as “self awareness” and “surroundings.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “do self driving,” “one drawbacks,” “maintain their schedule,” and “choose to go by walk.” Spelling errors such as “insted,” “polltion,” “benificial,” and “liscence” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing automation, safety, convenience, and access, and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “For example, if people have to do self driving then they have to be aware of their surroundings.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include subject–verb disagreement in “One major advantage … are,” missing or incorrect verb forms in “People who travelling,” and “if public transport will be driverless,” as well as article and plural problems in “a vehicles.” The conclusion also contains a sentence fragment: “although there are some disadvantages.” Practise accurate clause formation, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries; then check each sentence for a complete main clause.
