Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, the world has seen a drastic improvements in the technology sector. People from around the world have been in awe with all the recent technological innovations like artificial intelligence and many more. One noticable change that individuals have seen is the fact that there has been growing innovation of driverless cars by car companies. It is also expected that cars, buses, and trucks would be driverless in the future. While I believe that this development in the car industry is groundbreaking, most critics have mixed feelings about this, and it is only natural that I try to evaluate both the positive and negative aspects of this change.
In my opinion, I do not believe that the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages of this change. The world has actively been moving towards the digital era, and I believe that this development will be significant as it will help reduce cost on uber companies. Uber companies, car rentals and other car services will save more cost in aspect as they will stop worrying about paying their drivers.
However, I do not think this outweighs the fact that more humans will loose their and render useless in our society. It will not erase the fear of safety from the passengers mind. Safety is paramount in driving, and I believe this aspect will raise a great concern amoung passengers. Therefore, I am certain that this innovation will be as good as it lasts. It will enhance mixed feelings and fear among people. Hence why it will be detrimental.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and you identify relevant concerns about employment and passenger safety. However, the response only partially develops the task: the advantage is mainly that transport companies could save money, while the disadvantages are stated broadly rather than explained with examples or detail. For instance, “more humans will loose their” does not make clear which workers are affected or what consequences follow, and the safety concern is not supported by a specific reason or example. The introduction also promises to evaluate both sides, but the discussion is brief and the conclusion does not clearly restate a reasoned comparison. Develop each main point and explain why the disadvantages are more significant.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph presenting an advantage, and a final paragraph focusing on disadvantages. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Therefore,” and “Hence” help signal relationships between ideas. Nevertheless, progression is limited: the first body paragraph gives only one brief benefit, and the final paragraph moves quickly from job losses to safety and then to a general statement about mixed feelings. Some links feel mechanical or do not clearly show the logic, particularly “Hence why it will be detrimental.” The reference to “this change” is also broad, so the reader must infer which aspect is being discussed. Organise the body around clearly stated points and connect each explanation directly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “driverless,” “artificial intelligence,” “passengers,” and “safety,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “groundbreaking” and “detrimental.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision. “In awe with” is not a natural collocation, “save more cost” is awkward, and “fear of safety” does not express the intended concern clearly. There are also spelling errors in “noticable,” “loose,” and “amoung.” Repeated general terms such as “change,” “development,” and “innovation” make the argument less specific. Aim for accurate phrases such as “reduce operating costs,” “job displacement,” and “concerns about passenger safety.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “While I believe…” and a sentence using “as” to explain a benefit. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur in both sentence construction and basic grammatical forms. For example, “the world has seen a drastic improvements” has a mismatch between the article and plural noun, while “more humans will loose their” is incomplete and leaves the sentence without a clear object. “It will not erase the fear of safety from the passengers mind” also has an unclear grammatical relationship and missing possessive marking. The final fragment, “Hence why it will be detrimental,” is not a complete sentence. Check agreement, possessives, and sentence completeness, and use complex structures only when you can control them accurately.
