Student answer (Band 5.0)
The future of cars is being discussed since i have memory, the dream was to create cars that can fly, cars that wont need gas to function or even the cars that would not need any type of driver. At this point in time, 2026, technology has been growing so fast in the car industry, big companies like tesla, audi, byd, toyota, have at least 1 car that is ellectric or hybrid.
In my personal opinion, what people are calling "advantages" like spending less money on petrol, having the opportunity of charging your car at home or at any place, the new technology that allow drivers to avoid hitting a pole or another car while parking because of all the cameras and sensors or the pilot driving, are just destroying the art that was driving a normal manual car.
I havent experienced driving a car with these type of technologies, but i been in the passanger side, and i saw how disconected the driver can be from the road and the whole environment, because they just trust the technology, and its quite scary.
Technolonogy is great but we all have seen videos on social media, where the car lose control, where they cant stop it and result on a letal car accident, the owner of the car or drivers that are sharing the road with this cars, can be involved in these type of accidents
You can be a total ignorant and grab a car, expecting it to do every move, stop ar every ligh, but unnexpected things can happend and if you don have control over that car, theres less chances that you can prevent an accident.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a clear position against driverless vehicles, especially in the second paragraph, where you argue that convenience and safety features may reduce drivers’ connection with the road and that failures could cause accidents. These points are relevant, and your personal observation from the passenger seat gives the response a concrete basis. However, the task asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the advantages are only briefly listed rather than explained or weighed against the risks. The discussion also relies on broad claims about online accident videos, without a specific example or explanation of how common such failures are. Develop both sides and state explicitly why the disadvantages are more significant overall.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction to car technology, your position, a personal observation, and a warning about accidents. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “In my personal opinion” and “I haven’t experienced” signal the direction of your ideas. However, the overall progression is not fully controlled: the opening focuses on electric and hybrid cars, which does not directly establish the issue of driverless vehicles, and the final paragraph repeats the accident-risk point without adding a distinct supporting idea. Some sentences are very long, making the relationships between examples and claims harder to follow. Use a clearer structure for advantages, disadvantages, and your final judgement, with more precise links between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “technology,” “cameras and sensors,” “control,” and “car accident,” and phrases such as “disconected from the road” communicate your concern about driver attention. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the writing less clear or natural, including “ellectric,” “passanger,” “lethal,” and “pilot driving.” Some expressions are imprecise, such as “the art that was driving a normal manual car” and “every move.” Aim for more accurate terms for autonomous driving and road safety, and choose vocabulary that expresses the argument rather than relying on general references to technology. Proofreading spelling and collocations would make your meaning more reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “I haven’t experienced driving…” and a conditional idea in the final paragraph. However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to interrupt reading. For example, “the future of cars is being discussed since i have memory” has an unsuitable tense construction, while “the new technology that allow” has subject–verb disagreement. The response also contains missing or incorrect articles and verb forms, as in “if you don have control,” and punctuation is often missing where sentences run together. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then add subordinate clauses and check tense, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
