Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both advantages and disadvantages and give a clear overall preference for a “balance approach,” so the response is relevant to the question. The benefits for older people and possible job losses are pertinent, and you attempt to support them with examples. However, the position does not directly answer whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: the conclusion favours balance without comparing the two sides. Some points are also unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, saving money by not hiring a driver is plausible, but the claim that people would spend the savings on modifying vehicles does not show why this is a significant advantage. Develop the comparison and explain which side is stronger and why.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between the two sides, and examples generally follow the ideas they are meant to support. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated links such as “This is because,” “As a result,” and “As a consequence.” Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly the move from saving money to modifying vehicles, and the environmental example does not clearly connect to the disadvantage being discussed. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each sentence’s relationship to the main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “driverless vehicles,” “unemployed rates,” “technology,” and “environment,” and you use a few less common expressions such as “conserve the money.” However, word choice and word forms are often inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear. Examples include “consume work of human,” “technology are convenient for harness,” and “more then benefited us.” There are also spelling and form errors such as “Foe example” and “youngers.” Build accuracy with common collocations before reaching for more complex phrasing; for instance, describe technology as “suitable for every situation” and say that automation “could replace drivers’ jobs.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although,” “because,” and “so that.” This shows an effort to vary sentence structure, but many attempts contain errors that make reading difficult. Examples include “driverless vehicles will beneficial,” “cannot able to drive,” and “there is a chance that unemployed rates will increase began of driverless cars.” Problems with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction recur; punctuation spacing and comma use are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then add subordinate clauses. For example: “Driverless vehicles will benefit older people because many are unable to drive,” and “As a result, unemployment among professional drivers may rise.”
