Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that driverless vehicles will replace all the drivers in future and the passsengers will have to travel in transports with no driver inside. Besides some advantages, I believe that there will be more disadvantages as people will have no control over the vehicles, also technology cannot be fully trusted because of safety concerns.
Cars, buses, and trucks with no drivers will save huge time as they can do numerous task while travelling. For instance, an employeer who is commuting towards the office may be able to perform some remaining tasks or attend an online meetings with complete focus. Although, by sitting in a driverless car, a person will have zero control over the vehicle. As a result, if the person wants to stop the car immediately due to some reason, that might not be possible. In addition, the passengers sitting in a bus with a driver might feel relaxed.
Likewise, it would be challenging for driverless means of transport to gain the trust of humans as it is easy to trust a human driving a car rather than a car which is driven autonomously. For example, there would be a constant fear inside a human brain that the car might hit something as the person cannot see a driver there.
To sum up, although the shift towards driverless transit provides undeniable advantages, its downside ultimately carry greater weight because a person will have no control over anything that is why people might not be able to completely trust the driverless technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and you address both sides by mentioning time-saving benefits alongside concerns about control and trust. The commuting example helps illustrate a practical advantage, while the possibility of being unable to stop immediately supports your main argument. However, the advantages are developed more concretely than the disadvantages, which rely largely on passengers’ unease and lack of control. The claim that a passenger cannot stop the vehicle could be qualified or supported with a realistic example, such as an emergency override or a system failure. Develop the consequences of reduced control and explain why they outweigh the efficiency benefits to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting points, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “As a result,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the argument. However, the progression within the first body paragraph is not always smooth: the point about feeling relaxed in a bus with a driver appears after the discussion of driverless vehicles and is not clearly connected to the preceding idea. The second paragraph also develops trust mainly through one example. Use clearer topic sentences and make the relationship between each example and your central comparison explicit. Some transitions feel formulaic, so vary how you connect and refer back to ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “autonomously,” “commuting,” “safety concerns,” and “constant fear.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the meaning remains clear despite some imprecise or unnatural expressions. For example, “transports” is not the natural noun for vehicles, “numerous task” is an inaccurate form, and “inside a human brain” sounds awkward in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “passsengers” and “employeer.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. Replacing general phrases such as “do numerous task” with specific descriptions of what passengers could accomplish would also make your argument more fluent and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional sentence (“if the person wants to stop the car immediately…”) and a concession introduced by “Although.” Most sentences are understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation choices remain. In “Although, by sitting in a driverless car, a person will have zero control,” the opening clause is incomplete and the comma after “Although” is unnecessary; connect it to the preceding sentence or write “However” as a separate transition. Agreement and number also need attention in “its downside ultimately carry greater weight,” where the singular subject requires a singular verb. Review articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to practise complex clauses so they remain complete and controlled.
