Student answer (Band 5.5)

As growth of technology, we have be hearing more about driverless vehicles in automobile technology. Where there can be advantages as well as disadvantages. In my opition in current time we have still not reached in condition for driverless vehicles in many nations.

Firstly, talking about advantages the very first point is driving will become safer as it is pre-trained technology where the model learns the patterns, signs and follows the signs in any condition which result to have safe driving in the roads. For an example, a company in US launched a driverless taxi service where there are no drivers and have been in service since a long period and have recorded few accident cases compared to human drivers. So we can conclude that driving can be safer as that service can be a example to the world.

Secondly, as such technology works really good if the nation have proper traffic signs, rules. But many nations have poor traffic management which will make hardship to such technology. For an example, Tesla, a car brand which is known for its autopilot feature which could not be used in Nepal due to traffic. The second point is such devices will not have emotions which could results addidents if any error happens in the device. Many customers may have given wrong address or failure of certain system could result major accidents. The last point is there have been many people who work as drivers if such system is introduced many people will be unemployed which will certainly effect in the economy of the nation.

In conclusion, driverless vehicles have many advantages but cannot outweigh disadvantages as such features dont have emotions as in many conditions emition and thinking capability is needed in driving and for many countries where traffic management is poor it is really hard to impose such technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the question and state a clear view: driverless vehicles’ advantages do not outweigh their disadvantages. The response gives relevant reasons on both sides, including potentially safer driving, poor traffic infrastructure, system failures, and driver unemployment. The US taxi example and the reference to Tesla in Nepal help make the discussion more specific. However, the safety example is asserted rather than explained, and the disadvantages receive more detail than the advantages. The point about a lack of emotion is also not fully connected to how it would cause accidents. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make the comparison between the benefits and drawbacks more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a discussion of benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, the second body paragraph combines several distinct disadvantages, and “The second point” is confusing because it follows the discussion of traffic management without clearly signalling a new reason. Some links are mechanical, while the opening fragment, “Where there can be advantages as well as disadvantages,” interrupts the flow. Give each main idea a clearer place, use transitions that show the relationship between ideas, and ensure references such as “such devices” have an unmistakable antecedent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “driverless vehicles,” “traffic management,” “autopilot feature,” and “unemployed,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “pre-trained technology” and “system failure.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear: “As growth of technology,” “hardship to such technology,” and “effect in the economy” are not natural expressions. Spelling errors such as “opition,” “addidents,” and “emition” also weaken control. Build a bank of accurate collocations for technology, safety, and employment, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a car brand which is known for its autopilot feature” and a conditional idea about system failure. The overall meaning can usually be followed, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms recur. For example, “As growth of technology” is an incomplete opening phrase, “we have be hearing” has an incorrect verb form, and “the nation have” shows subject–verb disagreement. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a example” and the fragment beginning “Where there can be advantages.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate verb forms and agreement, then proofread for articles, plurals, and punctuation.
