Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although driverless vehicles has certain disadvantages, I believe that its advantages outweigh them because massive reduction in accidents and improve traffic flow efficiency.
Admittedly driverless vehicles does have some disadvantages one major concern is that Job displacement. This is because millions of professional drivers including bus, truck and taxi drivers risk loosing their livelihood creating economic strain if retaining or new job sector are not provided, for example in United States there are many driverless cars nowadays, and in big city like new York its even more taxi drivers lose their job and some are trying to search for another job and some are now became homeless.
Despite these drawbacks, I believe that the advantages are more significant , the main benefit is that huge reduction in accidents. This is particularly because most of accidents happen because of human error like fatigue , distraction or intoxication . Automated system rely on real time data and can detect from sensors to prevent from collisions. For instance if a human drunk while driving a can that can cause for accident. Moreover improving traffic flow efficiency this provides further benefits by Human drivers frequently brake or change lanes unpredictably, creating a ripple effect of slowdowns behind them. Autonomous vehicles use sensors and consistent spacing to absorb these waves rather than amplifying them.
In conclusion, driverless vehicles can cause the problems such as job displacement many drivers lose their job. I believe its advantages outweigh the disadvantages because of it can reduce the danger of accidents and provide better traffic flow efficiency.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you believe the benefits outweigh job losses. You address both sides, identifying employment displacement as a drawback and fewer accidents and smoother traffic as benefits. The discussion of human error and unpredictable braking gives relevant support, and the traffic-flow explanation is a useful, specific point. However, the disadvantage is less fully developed: the example about taxi drivers in New York and homelessness is broad and not clearly substantiated, while possible ways to manage job losses are only briefly mentioned. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences and likely scale of job displacement more carefully, and develop how driverless systems would improve safety or traffic in a concrete scenario. This would make the support more consistently extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs consider a disadvantage and advantages, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from job losses to safety and traffic efficiency is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Despite these drawbacks” help signal the shift in argument. Some connections are less controlled, however. The sentence beginning “Moreover improving traffic flow efficiency” is not smoothly integrated with the preceding point, and the conclusion repeats the main claims without drawing them together. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as in “a human drunk while driving a can.” Use complete topic sentences and clearer links between each claim and its explanation; vary the conclusion rather than simply repeating the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “job displacement,” “human error,” “fatigue,” “intoxication,” “automated system,” and “traffic flow efficiency.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue precisely, and the meaning is generally recoverable. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “massive reduction in accidents,” “detect from sensors,” and “absorb these waves.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “loosing” and “became homeless,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “a substantial reduction in accidents,” “detect obstacles using sensors,” and “mitigate traffic slowdowns.” Checking spelling and choosing precise verbs will make your vocabulary more controlled and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex structures, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a contrast clause (“Although driverless vehicles…”). The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and verb forms make parts of the response awkward. For example, “driverless vehicles has” should use a plural verb, while “driverless vehicles does have” also needs agreement. The opening sentence lacks a complete grammatical link before “because,” and the long disadvantage sentence needs clearer punctuation. In “if a human drunk while driving a can,” the conditional structure and verb forms are incomplete. Practise proofreading for subject–verb agreement and complete clauses, and break long sentences into manageable units while retaining a mix of structures.
