Student answer (Band 6.0)

All the vehicles such as cars, buses and trucks will be driverless in future and passengers will be the only people travelling in these vehicles. In my opinion, the advantage of relaxing while travelling, does not outweigh the disadvantage of people losing their jobs.

The primary advantage of driverless vehicles in future is that people can relax while travelling, without worrying about anything. People often feel tired after driving vehicles for long hours as they have to focus on the road and try not to be asleep during the journey. The driverless cars, buses and trucks will reduce this stress and help people relax and enjoy while travelling to faraway places. For example, people who are driving car by themselves are more prone to exhaustion than people who travel by driversless cars. As a result, driverless vehicles will help people enjoy the journey.

The major disadvantage of driverless vehicles is that the job of drivers will be vanished in future. Many people spend their livelihood by working as drivers of buses and trucks, and they can fall into a financial crisis due to loss of their job. The expenditure of rent, food supplements and education of their children are sourced by a driver's income. For example, the industry of drivers are far fetched to around the world and the gradual collapse of that industry can lead to a huge loss for many individuals. This leads to a reduced field in the job market and financial crisis for many people, which outweighs the advantages of having driverless vehicles.

In my opinion, driverless vehicles can reduce the tiredness in people's life for travelling, but it outweighs the disadvantage of drivers losing their jobs and falling into poor financial conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you argue that the benefit of relaxing during journeys is outweighed by drivers losing their livelihoods. You address both sides and give relevant explanations, including fatigue on long journeys and the financial pressures faced by drivers’ families. However, the advantages are less fully explored than the disadvantages, and the benefit is framed mainly as comfort rather than considering other possible gains, such as fewer accidents or improved access for people unable to drive. Some support is also unclear, particularly the claim that the drivers’ industry is “far fetched to around the world.” Develop the comparison more explicitly and explain why job losses outweigh the safety or convenience benefits, rather than relying mainly on the concluding assertion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs discuss the advantage and disadvantage, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking phrases such as “For example,” “As a result,” and “In my opinion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, several links are mechanical or repetitive, especially the repeated use of “driverless vehicles” and “This leads to.” The example about the drivers’ industry is difficult to connect to the preceding point, so the paragraph’s progression becomes less clear. Use more precise referencing and make each example directly support the claim before moving to its consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “driverless vehicles,” “exhaustion,” “financial crisis,” and “job market.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “primary advantage” and “major disadvantage.” However, several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision: “driversless cars,” “spend their livelihood,” “food supplements,” and “far fetched” do not express the intended meanings naturally. Repetition of “driverless vehicles,” “job,” and “financial crisis” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases, and choose vocabulary that precisely describes the point—for example, distinguish between losing employment, losing income, and facing financial hardship.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “as,” “while,” and “which,” and most sentences communicate the intended meaning. For example, the explanation beginning “People often feel tired after driving…” is extended clearly with a reason. Some grammatical errors remain, but they rarely prevent understanding. These include the unnecessary comma in “the advantage of relaxing while travelling, does not outweigh,” the incorrect passive construction “the job of drivers will be vanished,” and agreement in “the industry of drivers are.” There are also awkward sentence patterns, such as “The expenditure … are sourced by a driver’s income.” Practise passive forms, subject–verb agreement, and sentence punctuation, while keeping the complex structures you already attempt.
