Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often predicted that in the coming years, all vehicles such as buses, cars and trucks will not be having a human driver. Instead, they will be automated to drive on their own and humans will only travel as a passenger in these vehicles. In my opinion there will be some advantages to this but generally, I believe that there are more disadvantages of this innovation.
The idea of driverless vehicles has some advantages which are limited as it can promote accuracy and availablity whcih will be benificial for those people who want to have their own privacy while travelling because a lot of people prefer having a peaceful rides. Moreover, there will be no such problems of parking as these vehicles will park on their own without any guidance, as a result it can save time.
In contrast, almost 65 percent of the world's population is facing unemployment due to several financial crisis and a large proportion of people works in these transportation businesses to meet their pocket every single day and with the implementation of driverless vehicles, a lot of jobs are endangered. People will not be able to find transportation jobs such as cab drivers, truck drivers, which can affect their financial condition badly making their life more vulnerable. Moreover, we can not solely depend on technology as it has some limits which can result in several accidents, for example, a real human driver can judge the road patterns and weather conditions and drive accordingly, which is relatively impossible in the case of driverless vehicles.
In conclusion, I think that there are some advantages of driverless vehicles but the disadvantages are more severe and can lead to some serious problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you acknowledge benefits but argue that the disadvantages are greater, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both sides with relevant points, including convenience and parking, job losses, and the risk of relying on technology. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others. The employment point is connected to drivers’ livelihoods, but the claim that “almost 65 percent” of the world’s population faces unemployment is very broad and is not supported or clearly linked to driverless transport. The benefits of privacy and accuracy are also asserted rather than illustrated. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example to make the argument more convincing and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs discuss advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion summarises your position. The progression from benefits to drawbacks is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “In contrast,” and “In conclusion” help signal the relationships between ideas. To strengthen the organisation further, make the internal links between claims more explicit. For example, the sentence about unemployment introduces a global statistic before narrowing to transport jobs, which makes the reasoning feel abrupt. The long sentence about job losses could also be divided so that the consequence for workers is easier to follow. Overall, the organisation is clear, though some connections rely on familiar linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “automated,” “implementation,” “financial condition,” and “weather conditions.” These choices allow you to communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “availablity,” “whcih,” and “benificial.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “peaceful rides,” “meet their pocket,” and “financial crisis” do not express your intended meanings idiomatically. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for employment effects and vehicle safety would also help you express your argument with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “which.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors appear in longer sentences. For example, “a lot of people works” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “there will be some advantages to this but generally, I believe” needs clearer punctuation between the contrasting ideas. In “a real human driver can judge … and drive accordingly, which is relatively impossible,” the reference of “which” is not fully clear. Try dividing long sentences and checking agreement, articles, and clause connections. This would improve accuracy while preserving the range of structures you already attempt.
