Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the future all cars, buses and trucks are becomming wireless and the only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers and this has become widely debated topic around the world. While some people believe that it has benefits and others think that it can cause problem. In my opinion, the advantages of this are greater than disadvantages and i will discuss both sides below.

On one hand, some people think that this is not good idea. The main reason for this believe is that people think if cars, buses and trucks are becomming driverless than it will not safe may be it can cause accidents because if we totally trust on machines may be its not good, sometimes machine has many faults which will become risk of someones life. So its not safe to trust machines on busy traffic roads. Because of this, a number of people feel worried about the effects this may have on society. This proves this idea is not useful. That is why, people do not support this idea in thier daily lives.

On the other hand, many people including myself believe that it has benefits. I personally support this view because if we have driverless cars, buses and trucks then it will be beneficial for us we can have works through this machine and we will dont have to pay drivers for driving buses and trucks and also people who do not how to drive a car then this is also beneficial for them. For example, many people in different countries have also benefited from this in many ways. This shows this idea is useful and practical for modern people today.

In conclusion, although both views have some truth. I personally believe that positive side is stronger. If people use it wisely and carefully, it will bring more good results than bad ones. I hope government and individual work together for better and secure future for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question and state a clear view: “the advantages of this are greater than disadvantages.” You also present a disadvantage—possible accidents or machine faults—and advantages such as not needing to pay drivers and helping people who cannot drive. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The safety concern is repeated in several forms rather than supported with a specific explanation or example, while the benefits are asserted without showing how driverless vehicles would work safely or who would benefit most. The example about people in different countries is too general to provide meaningful support. To strengthen the response, explain and illustrate each main point more precisely, and make the comparison between the benefits and risks clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the opposing views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Phrases such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes mechanical: several sentences in the first body paragraph repeat that driverless vehicles are unsafe or unsupported, and “This proves this idea is not useful” does not clearly follow from the preceding points. Some references, such as “this” and “this idea,” are also vague. For clearer cohesion, organise each paragraph around one main claim, develop it with a reason and example, and use more precise references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “driverless,” “accidents,” “machines,” “busy traffic roads,” and “beneficial.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “good,” “useful,” and “beneficial.” Some word choices and collocations are unnatural, such as “trust on machines,” “have works through this machine,” and “better and secure future.” Spelling errors, including “becomming,” “thier,” and “dont,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing safety, costs, and accessibility, and check spelling and collocations carefully so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is generally understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and complex sentences often contain errors that make the reader work to follow the meaning. For example, “if cars, buses and trucks are becomming driverless than it will not safe” has problems with the conditional structure and verb forms; “we will dont have to pay drivers” is also grammatically faulty. There are recurring issues with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “it has become widely debated topic” and “although both views have some truth.” Practise accurate conditional sentences and review articles and verb forms. Breaking long sentences into shorter, correctly punctuated units will also improve control.
