Student answer (Band 5.5)

Technology is increasing at its pace . There have been introduction of driverless cars and it is being said that in the future all cars , buses and trucks will be driverless . In my perception , this will have vast advantages ,but as every coin has two sides , it is also followed by several disadvantages .

To commence with , nowadays, lifestyle of people is completely hectic and chaotic. In this hustle and bustle, along with the busy schedules, people do not have time to travel and if they have then there will be wastage of it due to the traffic congestion on road . Plethora of old people do not drive at old age , driverless cars serves best option to travel without relying on third person. Some people abhor to drive or find driving as an arduous task, driverless cars is the best solution. In current era several companies manufacture such cars such as Tesla, Jaguar and many more .

On the flip side , although it have useful advantages , it is followed by numerous disadvantages . To begin with the road accidents , as these cars are operating on the automatic systems , sometimes due to the failure of it or fault in any of it cause unpredictable and risky situations . People are employed as drivers and are running buisness on driving only , driverless cars will snatch their jobs which will have rise in unemployment and also declines the economy of a country .

To recapitulate , I do not think that the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages as it will have significant impact on gross domestic production and will eat up normal person's jobs .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the conclusion: you believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, particularly because of unemployment and economic effects. You also present relevant benefits, including helping older people travel and reducing the burden on those who dislike driving, and relevant drawbacks involving system failures and drivers losing work. However, the discussion is only partly developed. For example, the claim that driverless vehicles will affect gross domestic production is not explained, and the accident point would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how failures might occur. The opening also suggests a balanced view without clearly stating your final position until the conclusion. Make your stance explicit earlier and develop each main reason with explanation or an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To commence with,” “On the flip side,” and “To recapitulate” helps readers follow the broad direction. Within paragraphs, however, ideas sometimes feel listed rather than connected through a clear line of reasoning. The advantages paragraph moves from busy lifestyles to older people and then to people who dislike driving, without showing how these points relate. Some linking phrases are also formulaic, and the reference in “failure of it or fault in any of it” is unclear. Group related points and use more precise links and references to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt less common expressions, including “traffic congestion,” “arduous task,” “unemployment,” and “economy.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, although some are inaccurate or unnatural in context. For instance, “Technology is increasing at its pace” and “vast advantages” do not express the intended meaning naturally, while “snatch their jobs” is too informal for this essay. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “buisness” and “gross domestic production.” Aim for precise, conventional collocations and check spelling; this will make your argument sound more controlled without requiring unnecessarily elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if they have then there will be wastage of it” and a contrast clause beginning “although.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors recur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “There have been introduction,” “driverless cars serves,” and “although it have useful advantages.” Some sentences also join separate ideas with commas, making the structure difficult to follow. Practise building accurate clauses before adding complexity, and check subject–verb agreement and articles. For example, revise “driverless cars serves best option” to “driverless cars serve as the best option.”
