Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate regarding the future of self driving vehicles. While some people believe that there are many advantages of driverless vehicles, others argue that the disadvantages of self driving vehicles are more because these vehicles are expensive and professional drivers will loose their jobs. In my opinion, this will reduce the chances of accidents and help people with disabilities to travel without any issues.
The automated vehicles provide many benefits, one of those is reduction in accidents. According to recent surveys, most of the accidents happen due to human error or negligence of the driver. The artificial intelligence assisted automated vehicles will not only reduce the chances of accidents, but also reduce the repairment costs. Additionally, an autonomous vehicle will help the disabled people to travel from one place to another independently. Therefore, driverless vehicles are necessary for the people with disabilities to travel comfortably.
On the other hand, many people believe that automated vehicles are expensive. Not only the vehicles are expensive but also the maintenance is high because of expensive subscriptions of software provided by the manufacturing company. For example, Tesla, one of the the most famous companies, charges extra cost for maintenance and upgrade of assisting software in their vehicles. So the more a vehicle is used the more it costs over time. Additionally, professional driver will lose their jobs because of the automation of vehicles.
In my opinion, the driverless cars, buses and trucks ensures safety of the traveler and also provide a better transport for the people with disabilities. These benefits overweigh the demerits of driverless driving. Additionally, governments should ensure the job safety of professional drivers and a tax free production of these automated vehicles so that more and more individuals could benefit from them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both sides of the question and make your position clear: you believe the safety and accessibility benefits outweigh the costs and job losses. The discussion of accident reduction and independent travel for people with disabilities is relevant, and the Tesla example gives the cost argument some support. This meets the task well overall, but the ideas are not equally developed. The benefits are asserted more than explained—for instance, you could clarify how driverless systems reduce human error or improve access. The employment disadvantage is mentioned only briefly, without exploring its scale or consequences. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a specific explanation or example and connect the final policy suggestions more directly to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for advantages, a paragraph for disadvantages, and a conclusion. The contrast between the two sides is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “On the other hand,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships. The progression is generally logical, but some connections feel mechanical, and the conclusion introduces government measures without fully linking them to the preceding discussion. There is also some repetition of “driverless vehicles” and “automated vehicles,” while references such as “these benefits” could be made more precise. For a stronger, more flexible progression, vary how you connect ideas and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before developing its supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “autonomous vehicle,” “artificial intelligence,” “maintenance,” and “automation,” so the main ideas are communicated clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “human error or negligence” and “independently.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “repairment costs” is not the natural term, “charges extra cost” is imprecise, and “overweigh the demerits” is not the correct expression. Spelling errors such as “loose” for “lose” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use common collocations precisely and check spelling and word forms; this will make your vocabulary sound more natural and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a clear contrast structure in “While some people believe…, others argue…” and the paired construction “Not only… but also…”. Most sentences remain understandable, and errors rarely obscure your meaning. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. For example, “the vehicles are expensive” needs an article before “vehicles” after “Not only,” and “professional driver will lose their jobs” has a singular noun with a plural reference. In the conclusion, “cars, buses and trucks ensures” also has a subject–verb agreement error. Review articles, singular and plural agreement, and verb forms, then proofread longer sentences to improve consistency while retaining your range of structures.
