Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the future, all vehicles including cars, buses and trucks will be unmmaned meaning there will be no driver. Passengers will be the only persons riding in these vehicles. In my opinion, the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages because it will be convenience for people who cannot drive or businesses, and reduce the traffic incidents overall.

First of all, the widespread use of driverless cars will be a huge opportunity for businesses and people who cannot drive. Businesses such as bus companies and logistic companies can cut cost by eliminating the high salaries for bus and truck drivers. For personal use, people who cannot drive will no longer need to call for rental drivers or taxis, saving them money in the long-term. On the other side, many people argue that it is not safe to let roborts drive because they lack human judgement. Additionally, many people reported that they do not feel safe while travelling in vehicles with no drivers. Nontheless, a recent study suggested that driverless cars are actually safer than the cars driven by human drivers.

Most of the road accidents are caused by human errors such as drivers speaking on phone, careless driving, speeding and sleepy drivers. The driverless cars can solve this problem because robots strictly behave in a way that they are programmed. Therefore, they can be programmed as responsible drivers, following traffic rules and laws. For instance, a recent experiment found that driverless cars are significantly safer and suitable to use for long time by eliminating the fatigue factor associated with human drivers.

In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of driverless cars outweigh the disadvantages because they are effiecent and affordable for both personal and business uses. Additionally they are relatively safer because there is no human error.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. You address both sides by mentioning concerns about safety and then arguing that automation can reduce accidents, and you support your main points with examples about businesses and people unable to drive. This meets the task well. However, some support is asserted rather than fully explained: the references to a “recent study” and “recent experiment” give no details, and the claim that driverless vehicles are affordable for personal use could be developed further. To strengthen the response, explain how the evidence supports your view and acknowledge a specific limitation, such as technical failures or job losses.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop the benefits and safety argument, and a conclusion restates your position. The progression from business and personal convenience to accident reduction is logical. You also use signposts such as “First of all,” “Additionally,” and “Therefore.” At times, however, the links feel mechanical, and “On the other side” introduces a counterargument without clearly showing how it relates to the preceding benefits. The second body paragraph also repeats the safety point from the first. For a stronger, more flexible progression, group each main idea distinctly and use clearer references to connect the counterargument and rebuttal.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “widespread use,” “human judgement,” “traffic rules,” and “fatigue factor,” which helps communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “eliminating the high salaries” and “careless driving.” However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “unmmaned,” “roborts,” “Nontheless,” and “effiecent.” Some collocations are also awkward: “call for rental drivers” and “suitable to use for long time” do not sound natural in this context. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships for transport and employment. More precise vocabulary would make the argument sound clearer and more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because,” a relative clause in “people who cannot drive,” and a participial phrase in “saving them money in the long-term.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the errors rarely obscure your meaning. Some grammatical problems are nevertheless present. For example, “the advantages … because it will be convenience” has an unclear pronoun reference and an incorrect structure after “will”; “can cut cost” needs a plural noun; and “Additionally they are” needs punctuation after the introductory adverb. The sentence beginning “The driverless cars can solve this problem” also shifts between plural vehicles and “they” in a way that could be more consistent. Review agreement, articles, and sentence punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
