IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
As the world is getting advanced in so many things because of the technology advancement in the field of science, driverless vehicles would be one such innovation world would be experience in coming years.
Automated or robotic based machines is the major topic of discuusion worldwide. Some individuals are in favour of reducing the human needs or efforts by replacing them by robots or automated machines. Whereas others believe that it is not safe for us to rely on machines. Below both the views are explained by providing appropriate example. At last giving my opinion to show how the advantage does not outweigh the disadvantage of driverless vehicles.
Some people believes that when cars and truck are run by robots or made automated then the percentage of having road accidents will reduce as they will be programmed to follow the traffic rules. For Example, I heard recently in news that one of the international car brand design a car with driverless feature where the owner of the car has to set the route where he or she has to go then the car will drive you there. They also talked about one of the important safety feature of that car, how it will open the air bags if that car sense any danger or going to bang the other vehicles.
On the other hand, peoples highlights some of the important negative point for driverless vehicles. One the them is, if in emergengy if a person wants to re-route the vehicle to some place then you have stop and then again need to set the route. This is not the case in vehicles drive by human they can anytime in the middle of the ride. For exanple, if the driverless car has been set a certain route in their software and unfortunately that route is closed due to some construction work that is not known by the vehicle. The owner has to careful such things and if some time the owner forgot to update then it can be serious safety issue.
Therefore, I believe that machines are there to made the human life easy but it does not replace the human. Hence, looking at both the advantage and disadvantage I believe it does not outweigh the disadvantage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question by presenting a benefit—potentially fewer accidents through programmed compliance with traffic rules—and disadvantages involving route changes and unexpected road closures. Your final position is that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, so the response is relevant and includes an example. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says you will show that the advantage does not outweigh the disadvantage, while the conclusion says “it does not outweigh the disadvantage,” which is unclear about what “it” refers to. The safety example is also not fully explained, and the disadvantages focus mainly on route management rather than developing the broader risks of driverless transport. State your comparison directly and extend each main point with clearer consequences or evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about a possible advantage, a paragraph about disadvantages, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “Therefore” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “Below both the views are explained” reads like a plan rather than a natural transition, and “At last giving my opinion” is not a complete sentence. The relationship between the introduction and conclusion is also difficult to follow because the position is phrased ambiguously in both. Improve progression by making the central comparison explicit at the start and using each body paragraph to develop one clearly connected claim and its consequences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “automated,” “programmed,” “traffic rules,” “air bags,” and “safety issue,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “re-route the vehicle” and “set the route.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less natural, for example “robotic based machines,” “human needs,” “important negative point,” and “emergengy.” Some repeated general terms, especially “vehicle,” “car,” and “route,” also restrict precision. Build a more accurate range for discussing transport risks and benefits, and check spelling and common word partnerships. For instance, “robotic based” could become “robot-controlled,” and “negative point” could become “drawback.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if the driverless car has been set a certain route” and clauses explaining how a vehicle might respond to danger. However, control is uneven, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “driverless vehicles would be one such innovation world would be experience,” “Some people believes,” and “then you have stop.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and incomplete constructions, such as “At last giving my opinion” and “This is not the case in vehicles drive by human.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and complete sentence construction. Shorter, carefully checked sentences would make your argument clearer while you develop more complex structures.
