Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the ethics and implications of paying others to perform household chores or childcare. However, the essay discusses the lack of soft skills in the modern workplace. Because the student failed to address the specific task instructions provided, the response cannot be assessed as a successful attempt at the set task. While the ideas are developed within the context of the essay's own topic, they do not relate to the prompt at all. Consequently, the score for Task Achievement is severely impacted.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The use of cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Consequently', and 'Additionally' helps to guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points. Despite the content being irrelevant to the prompt, the internal structure and flow of the text are coherent and follow a standard academic essay format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'catalyse this trend', 'exponentially', and 'imperative' show a decent level of lexical control. There are some minor errors, such as 'doing a team work' (should be 'teamwork') and 'phnomenon' (spelling error), but these do not impede communication. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly, even though the topic is incorrect.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'this phnomenon can results in' (should be 'can result in') and 'an individual with lack of social skills' (should be 'a lack of'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are occasionally inconsistent. However, the errors are not frequent enough to cause significant difficulty for the reader, and the meaning remains clear throughout the text.
