Student answer (Band 7.0)

Good Idea: Creating employment, Helping others to feed their family

Yes : they learn time management

In recent time, it is often seen that people are not involving themselves in daily household chores or looking after children. Some people think that not by involving in these kind of work, and hiring someone to do the same is creating a room for an employment which is good for society. However, in my opinion people should do these petty or small household work by themselves and do not make themselves dependent on someone.

To start with, why do people think paying someone to do the same work which they are supposed to do is good? To answer, sometimes people may not have time or even though they may have time, they simply do not want to do that. In other words, sometimes people work for long hours or even if they work regular hours, they may feel they have earn enough money or have enough money to hire someone to do little household chores, such as cleaning their home, gardening, or looking after their child. This way they are creating a room of employment for those people who maybe are not much educated or may not have some skills to work in corporate or skilled jobs. Thus, by paying them for these things, they are eventually helping them to feed their family or to survive in the world.

However, instead of relying on others people should do these work by themselves. The first and foremost reason is to save money. To explain, what if people start doing these petty petty household work by themselves? They end up saving some money which they might have wasted due to their laziness. To add more, when they keep someone to do their house work, they do not think once before paying them that they could finish these work in less than 30 minutes and this could also be with detailing. In addition, if they hire someone to look after their child, they may not be aware of thing that they might not get this time again to spend with child, and may not be able to create memories.

To conclude, yes, hiring someone and paying them to do daily household work is good from creating a room for employment point of view. However, as long as my opinion is concerned people should do their daily household work by themselves to save money, and also to make themselves independent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of creating employment and the argument for doing tasks oneself. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second body paragraph where the focus on 'saving money' and 'laziness' lacks depth. While the points are relevant, they could be more sophisticated. For example, the argument regarding childcare could have explored the psychological benefits of parental bonding rather than just 'creating memories'. Overall, the response covers all requirements well, but the depth of analysis is limited, which prevents it from reaching the higher band levels.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two sides of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'In other words', and 'However' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in the flow of ideas, such as the transition between the benefits of employment and the personal reasons for doing chores. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. The student uses basic terms like 'petty', 'small', and 'good' repeatedly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'corporate' and 'independent', but these are not used with enough precision to demonstrate a wide range. Collocations are occasionally weak, such as 'creating a room for an employment' (should be 'creating employment opportunities'). While the meaning is always clear, the lexical range is limited and does not show the flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout, such as 'not by involving in these kind of work' (should be 'by not involving themselves in this kind of work') and 'they may not be aware of thing that they might not get this time again'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest that the student does not have full control over complex structures.
