Student answer (Band 6.5)

In today's fast-paced life, time has become an essential factor of people's life, which they try to manage very efficiently to increase their productivity. Nowadays, individuals also have several ways where they could reduce their burden of work while hiring other people to do their personal tasks like house duties or taking care of their younger ones. This situation provides lots of employment for other individuals which is beneficial for nation's growth. I also believe that, there is no wrong in paying other people for doing your personal work, my justifications related to this will be provided in the upcoming paragraphs.

I totally agree that this is the good way to provide work for others because it eventually provides other individual a place to start their earning and these jobs also help them to become independent and financially stable. In addition, in this highly inflated era, it has become very challenging to manage monthly budgets for people who especially belongs from middle class or lower class backgrounds. Having such jobs, definitely helps them to look after their families and younger ones. For example, unemployment ratio has a severe drop this year as more populace prefer to have house-maids or personal tutors for their child, which significantly opens more opportunities for unemployed people.

Furthermore, I think this is a positive development to hire someone for own's work, which requires time and efforts. Looking at recent time, it is completely impossible for a person to look after both house duties and work tasks by themself because of the lack of time they have due to their workload pressures, so having other people to help them will eventually help them grow both personally and professionally, by investing their time in a better way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefits of outsourcing tasks and the personal perspective on whether individuals should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the conclusion is incomplete, which is a significant omission that prevents the essay from being fully developed. While the arguments regarding employment opportunities and time management are relevant, they could be supported with more specific, nuanced examples rather than general statements. To reach a higher band, ensure that all sections, including the conclusion, are fully finished to provide a sense of closure to the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central idea. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'For example' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical issues, and the abrupt ending of the essay negatively impacts the overall coherence. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the economic argument and the personal time-management argument could be smoother. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring a complete structure would enhance the logical progression of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'highly inflated era' and 'workload pressures'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reduce their burden of work while hiring' (should be 'by hiring') and 'belongs from' (should be 'belongs to'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. Expanding the range of collocations and refining word choice would help elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'there is no wrong in paying' (should be 'nothing wrong'), 'the good way' (should be 'a good way'), and 'by themself' (should be 'by themselves'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure occasionally feels repetitive. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of minor errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for these common errors would be beneficial.
