Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent days, people pay somebody to do things they don't want to do or because they don't have time to do them. This works could be household chores or taking care of the kids at home. I will be discussing both views in this essay.

Firstly, yes, it is a good way of providing work for others in the community. There are people who is their job to clean for sometime for a pay and we have nannies too who takes care of the children while you are away for works or other important events. Those individuals are professionals in that line of work and will do that to your taste. For instance, some people might not have time to clean their house and they invite a professional to come do that for them instead. At that point they are helping you and also getting paid for their services.

On the other hand, some persons desire to have those work done by themselves. They do not like a stranger touching or taking care of their children and also they can not do that to their standard. It is better if you could do some cleaning yourself , it helps to easily identification of items. Some also likes caring for her kids for bonding and a good family time together.

In conclusion, some persons prefers to have someone help out in their home for a pay to provide work for others while others prefers to do them themselves. In whichever way you choose in having your works done, do it for your comfort and peace of mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether it is a good way to provide work and whether people should do these tasks themselves. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons for both sides, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the point about 'bonding' with children is a good start but could be expanded to discuss the long-term psychological benefits. The introduction is slightly repetitive, and the essay would benefit from a more clearly defined position throughout the text. To improve, ensure each paragraph contains a fully developed main idea supported by a clear, illustrative example.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'This works' in the introduction). To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the transition between the two main body paragraphs could be smoother to create a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'nannies', 'professionals', and 'bonding'. However, there are instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'do that to your taste' and 'helps to easily identification of items'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on simple, repetitive structures. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary. Avoid informal phrasing and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form to enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who is their job', 'some also likes') and article usage. There are also errors in tense consistency and sentence construction, such as 'they can not do that to their standard'. While the meaning is generally understandable, these recurring errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately to improve your overall control.
