Student answer (Band 8.0)
Nowadays, many people pay others to do their Domestic duties and look after their offspring. In this essay, I will be discussing whether this is a good practice to provide jobs for those in need and if people should take time out of their busy life to fulfill their household needs themselves.
Hiring people for household work contributes significantly to increase employment opportunities, particularly for individuals with limited formal education and access to decent jobs. Many domestic workers, childcare providers, and cleaners rely on such jobs as their primary source of income. By paying for these services, wealthier households help sustain a sector that offers livelihoods to millions worldwide. For instance, in countries like the UK and the US, domestic work is a major industry that supports migrant workers and local employees alike.
Delegating household responsibilities allow people to focus on their careers, family, and personal well-being. Many professionals work long-hours, and handling domestic duties on top of that can lead to stress and exhaustion. Hiring a cleaner or babysitter ensures that individuals can allocate more time to their families or personal growth. For example, busy parents can spend quality time with their children rather than being overwhelmed by chores, leading to stronger family bonds. Moreover, outsourcing routine tasks enables people to pursue hobbies, education, or personal interests. Instead of spending hours on laundry and cleaning, individuals can engage in activities that enrich their lives, such as fitness, learning new skills, or socializing. This, in turn, enhances overall happiness and productivity.
In conclusion, hiring others for household work provides employment and allows individuals to focus on higher priorities. As long as fair wages and working conditions are ensured, this practice is beneficial for both employers and employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefit of providing work and the personal decision of whether to perform these tasks oneself. The position is clear and consistent throughout. Ideas are well-developed, particularly the argument regarding employment opportunities and the personal benefits of outsourcing. The essay provides relevant examples, such as the mention of the UK and US labor markets and the specific benefits of family bonding. The response is balanced and covers all requirements of the task effectively, demonstrating a clear understanding of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main arguments. The flow of information is natural, and the relationship between the ideas is easy to follow, meeting the criteria for a well-structured response.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
The vocabulary is generally precise and appropriate for the context. Phrases like 'allocate more time,' 'outsourcing routine tasks,' and 'sustain a sector' demonstrate a good range of lexical items. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, and the word choices are mostly accurate. While the range is sufficient, it could be slightly more varied to reach the highest band. There are no significant errors in word choice or collocation that impede meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 8.0
The essay displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are error-free, and the grammar is generally accurate. There is a minor error in subject-verb agreement in the third paragraph ('Delegating household responsibilities allow' should be 'allows'), but this does not hinder communication. Punctuation is used correctly throughout. The control over complex structures is consistent, and the overall grammatical accuracy is high, supporting the clarity of the arguments presented.
