Student answer (Band 7.0)

Nowadays, many individuals don't have enough time to finish their work, such as household chores, or take care of their children due to their job, so they are paying money to others to do this work. I believe this is a good way to create job opportunities for other people, but families should do some important tasks by themselves.

On the one hand, hiring someone to help with household work or childcare provides employment for many people. To be more precise, cleaners, caregivers, and babysitters can earn money from this work and support their families. In addition, it also saves time for people who have busy schedules. For example, one of my friends and his wife both have full-time jobs, so they don't have much time to finish their household chores, so they hire a cleaner to finish household work.

On the other hand, I think people should not have to depend on others to do their work. Some responsibilities, such as looking after children, are very important and are done by parents. In other words, kids need love, care, and guidance from their family, not from the babysitter. Moreover, doing simple chores like cooking will help people to spend time with their family members and learn useful life skills, and they can also teach their children.

In conclusion, paying money to others for finish household chores is a good way to create job opportunities, and it helps to busy people. However, families should do some important work, such as taking care of children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of job creation and the necessity of personal involvement in certain tasks. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that childcare is important for 'love, care, and guidance,' this point could be further extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The structure is logical, and the response remains relevant to the topic throughout, providing a balanced view that satisfies the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'In addition,' and 'In conclusion' effectively to guide the reader. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the benefits of hiring help and the counter-argument could be smoother. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'job opportunities,' 'full-time jobs,' and 'household chores.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'work' and 'tasks' rather than using synonyms or more precise collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to employment and domestic life. There are no significant spelling errors, and the word choices are generally accurate, though they lack the sophistication required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as 'paying money to others for finish household chores' (should be 'finishing') and 'it helps to busy people' (should be 'helps busy people'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex structures. Increasing the variety of sentence types and proofreading for small grammatical slips would improve your score.
