Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, in this fast-paced world, everybody is busy in their work and because of that people prefer to give money to others to get their work done. This also provides employment to other people. In my opinion, this is a good thing to give job to others.

Firstly, there are many individuals who don’t have the time to do additional work at home because of their duty with the main work and for this reason they hire other people to work for them, such as, some hires housemaid to help them with the cleaning and other stuff in the house.

Moreover, there are some families in which husband and wife, both goes for work and because of that they could not give time to their children. As the toddlers need proper supervision, they can not be left alone in the house and thats why they hire other individuals to take care of them.

In addition, there are some works which people do not like to do and they just give money to others to get that work done and i think, somewhere it is good for others to earn some money. However, i prefer to do work on my own, as it helps you to gain more skills but then there are some people who does not care about that

In conclusion, I think if somebody is well earning and has a good financial stability, he can hire other people to do this type of additional works, as it creates more employment and help people who are seeking for work to earn their bread and butter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention that hiring help creates employment, the arguments remain quite general. To improve, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the societal or personal implications. For instance, you could discuss the economic impact of service-sector jobs or the personal growth gained from domestic responsibility. Your position is clear, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., using pronouns or synonyms to refer back to previous ideas) is more precise. The overall structure is coherent, but the transitions between your personal opinion and the general arguments could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial stability' and 'supervision'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple phrasing such as 'do work' or 'get their work done'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary and idiomatic collocations. For example, instead of 'do work', you could use 'undertake domestic responsibilities' or 'perform household chores'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'well earning', which should be 'high-earning'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some hires housemaid' should be 'some hire housemaids'; 'husband and wife... goes for work' should be 'go to work'; 'some people who does not care' should be 'do not care'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and capitalization errors (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement and verb forms, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
