Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is okay to pay others to do things for you if you don't have time to do it yourself. This is a personal choice depending on one's priorities. This will free up time for you to do other more important things, as long as you don't mind the monetary cost. Getting some help from others can also help reduce your own stress. Sometimes, trying to do everything all on your own can be overwhelming, so it is good to have an other shoulder to lean on. This also creates an opportunity for another person to make some money that they might not be able to make otherwise, and maybe help that person develop skills and experience. Currently, everybody is looking for work, and this is the type of activity that might be good for the economy. It will also potentially create a new friendship. However, some things are important to do yourself. You should spend time with your children and family as much as you can. Also, some things you should not trust others to do. Don't get other people to do important things.
One downside to this, however, is that it will cost you money which you might need for other things. It might also make you lazy if you rely too much on paying others to do everything for you. This would also set a bad example for your own children. You should teach your children to be capable of doing things on their own, yet know when and how to ask for help.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether it is a good way to provide work and whether people should do these things themselves. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention economic benefits and personal time management, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, you mention 'everybody is looking for work' as a justification for the economy, which is a broad generalization. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete scenarios. The position is clear, but the overall structure feels a bit like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into two main paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'however' and 'also,' but the flow between sentences is often mechanical. The transition between the benefits of hiring help and the drawbacks is abrupt. Additionally, the paragraphing is insufficient; the second paragraph is quite short and lacks a clear topic sentence to guide the reader. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'do things,' 'good way,' and 'important things' repeatedly. While the meaning is always clear, there is a lack of variety and precision. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to employment, domestic management, and personal development. For example, instead of 'do things,' you could use 'delegate responsibilities' or 'outsource household tasks.' There are no significant spelling errors, but the range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and compound sentences. While there are few major grammatical errors, the range of structures is limited. Most sentences follow a standard subject-verb-object pattern, and there is a lack of complex structures such as conditional clauses or passive voice, which are expected at higher levels. For example, you could have used a conditional structure like 'If individuals were to outsource their chores, they would gain more time for professional development.' Punctuation is generally accurate, but the overall grammatical variety is restricted, keeping the score in the mid-range.
