Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays it has become increasingly common for people to hire a help for completing their domestic as well as other tasks, such as child care, for which they do not have sufficient time or simply they choose not to. I believe this is positive approach for providing job to people who are looking for temporary earnings. However, they should occasionally perform those tasks by themselves as it cultivates family bond and keeps them active.

The reason why I believe this is better way to provide employment is that it offers instant earning for many individuals such as students or a person who is seaching for a job in his field. A university student can do these less skill tasks as a part-time worker without disturbing his current studies and he can earn enough to support his living or study. Similarly, many graduates or postgraduates may require some time before they actually start work in their field. This is because of the competitive job market. Thus, by doing such work of households temporarily, they can support themselves and their family.

However, occasionally people should do these works by themselves as it creates bonding between family members. This is to say if a working parents free up themselves and take care of their children, they will understand their child's needs better than a nanny. This can increase bonding between them and lead to healthy family. Moreover, doing their domestic chores by themselves makes them more active. That means by allocating weekend for laundry or groceries, they can stay active on their day off even after resting for sometime and they can avoid the sedentary weekend.

To conclude, these days it is possible to hire help for daily household tasks and many working people choose that. Even though it is positive as it creates many job opportunities,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the reasons why people should perform tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents the essay from reaching a fully developed final summary. While the ideas are relevant and supported with examples like students and graduates, the lack of a proper conclusion limits the overall development of the argument. To improve, ensure all sections, including the conclusion, are fully articulated to provide a sense of closure to the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'However', and 'Moreover' are used effectively to link ideas. The progression of arguments is generally smooth. However, the abrupt ending of the final paragraph significantly impacts the coherence of the conclusion. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the mechanical failure to complete the final sentence detracts from the overall flow. Improving the transition between the final points and ensuring a complete, well-structured conclusion would enhance the score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more precise language such as 'cultivates family bond' and 'sedentary weekend'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hire a help' (should be 'hire help') and 'less skill tasks' (should be 'low-skilled tasks'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary would help elevate the lexical quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'this is positive approach' (missing article), 'a person who is seaching' (spelling error), and 'if a working parents free up themselves' (subject-verb agreement error). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on article usage, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for minor spelling slips. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help in achieving a higher band score.
