Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, people hire somebody to take care of their responsibilities has become increasingly common in many parts of the world. This trend can be attributed to several factors, and it has generated considerable debate about its overall impact. This essay will discuss main reasons behind this development and explain why I believe it is not a good way of providing your work to others.

One major reason for paying somebody to do your things is hectic life style. This is because people are busy with their professional life from morning to evening. As a result, they do not get enough time to look after their own children or perform other household chores. Another contributing factor is priority of such kind of work. For example, my friends prefer to spend free time in gym or other productive activities instead of doing household things such as cleaning, cooking and grocery.

In my opinion, this is not a ideal way to hire someone else to perform your tasks because of several factors. Firstly, when someone pay somebody to looking after their children, then it becomes professional task. As a result, kids won't get much cultural value and importance of family in their childhood which is considered as a best learning phase. Secondly, there is a possibility to survive through any serious issue like robbery. For instance, few weeks ago, one of my neighbors hired a lady for cooking without any reference. After one week, she left with all important and expensive household items. Therefore, I believe that the overall impact of this trend is negative.

In conclusion, paying someone stranger to perform your unwanted work has become most common because of hectic work life and priority. Overall, I believe that this is a negative development as people need to survive sometimes badly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether it is a good way to provide work and whether people should do these things themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'cultural value' for children is a strong point but lacks depth, and the example of the robbery is a bit anecdotal and narrow in scope. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the societal implications of outsourcing labor, perhaps discussing the economic benefits versus the loss of personal autonomy or family bonding in more detail.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence where the phrase 'people need to survive sometimes badly' is vague and does not logically follow the previous points. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified topic sentence would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hectic life style', 'contributing factor', and 'professional task'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'providing your work to others' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'paying someone stranger'. Additionally, some collocations are imprecise, such as 'survive through any serious issue'. To improve, focus on learning more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions related to work-life balance and social trends to move beyond basic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'people hire somebody... has become' (subject-verb agreement), 'not a ideal way' (article usage), and 'when someone pay somebody to looking after' (verb form errors). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on consistent subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex structures, such as gerunds and infinitives, are used accurately.
