Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, people are paying for their personal things rather than doing them by themselves due to less time and even due to their choices, for example, household work or taking care of their children. I strongly agree with this statement because everyone has the right to follow their passion; however, sometimes people do these things because of their needs.

First and foremost, passion is something that gives motivation to everyone. Sometimes people take help for their personal work, like house activity or handling their children. I believe this is the good decision as this will not harm their work but increase their productivity for their work. One should not only give priority to their work but also to their dreams, for instance, Actors have a busy schedule, shooting for almost a whole day. They do not have time to do all their personal things by themselves, there is no loss if they hire any person for taking care of some of their responsibilities. As a result, they feel relaxed and motivated after doing their work.

Furthermore, there are some people in our society whose needs are not fulfilled by staying in their homes only, so they have to do work outside, as a result they need to give household responsilities to someone who can take care of their home and children. Moreover, in today's world, because of costliness one person cannot run every need of an individual of their family, other person should have to do work to earn for their family and enjoy luxurious life.

According to me people should do their household things if they have time to do, people should not be pressurised to do anything as it will cost a lot to their health and well being. There is no detrimental point for proving the fact that giving money to someone for their personal work.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that paying for household activities and looking after children is not a big concern. Although people love to do their housework and look after their children by themselves, because of their passion and needs, they have to sacrifice their personal work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument about 'passion' and 'needs' is mentioned in the introduction and repeated in the body paragraphs without significant extension. The example of actors is relevant, but the explanation of why this is a 'good way of providing work' could be more explicitly linked to economic benefits or social support. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same premise.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the internal flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'There is no detrimental point for proving the fact that giving money to someone for their personal work.' Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences could be smoother to avoid a repetitive feel. Overall, the structure is functional and supports the development of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'detrimental point' and 'luxurious life', though these are not always used with complete precision. Some word choices are slightly informal or imprecise, such as 'personal things' or 'house activity'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for a higher band. Improving the variety of synonyms and using more precise academic collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'other person should have to do work', 'there is no loss if they hire any person for taking care of some of their responsibilities'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are run-on or lack necessary commas. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
