Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, people’s schedules are getting busier, they look for someone to do their daily tasks like cleaning their house or looking after their children. This essay will discuss the benefits of offering duties for others, and if people should do these things themselves.

First and foremost, when individuals are hiring workers to help them finish their daily tasks on behalf of, they create opportunities for others. In other words, it helps them to pay their bills and they can consider this job as a source of income. According to a study, the number of employees who work in cleaning services and nurseries have increased by twenty per cent due to the high demand from the public to do their routine tasks.

Secondly, the question of people should do these duties by themselves or not is a matter of debate. I believe that they can hire someone but only to some extent. For example, taking care of children should be the responsibility of parents because the child needs emotional support from his family not from the employees.

According to a recent journal has shown that kids are more likely to have an emotional issues when nurses take care of them the whole time.

Another example, senior residents may need to hire people to do their household chores since they don’t have the ability to finish their daily routine duties.

In conclusion, Hiring workers to do their daily work provides some perks but it should be reserved for a certain tasks to prevent from major consequences for children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefits of hiring help and the personal responsibility of performing tasks. However, the development is uneven. While the first point is supported by a general reference to statistics, the second point regarding child-rearing is somewhat underdeveloped. The argument that parents should handle childcare is clear, but the supporting evidence—a vague reference to a 'recent journal'—lacks depth. The conclusion is brief and slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is fully extended with more specific examples or logical reasoning rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In other words', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Hiring workers to do their daily work provides some perks but it should be reserved for a certain tasks'. The use of pronouns and linking words is generally effective, but the flow could be improved by varying the sentence structure to better connect the supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'source of income' and 'emotional support'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'offering duties for others' (instead of 'outsourcing tasks') and 'emotional issues' (which is slightly vague). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and sophisticated vocabulary would be required to move into the higher band categories.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the question of people should do these duties' (should be 'whether people should do'), 'According to a recent journal has shown' (a redundant subject), and 'reserved for a certain tasks' (should be 'certain tasks'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles to ensure greater accuracy in complex sentences.
