Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often argued that in many cities where people hire others to complete the tasks, such as household chores or looking after their children because they are not interested to do the work by themselves or due to time constraints. Although this method is helpful for others those are under poverty, I believe that people should be self-dependent because it gives them satisfaction and improves their family relationships.
One major merits to give work to others is that it gives them a chance to earn money who are living under poverty. This is because many people are not able to secure jobs in industries because they are uneducated and fall under low income. When they are, hired others for their children upbringing, then they can complete their desires by their earning. As a result, they feel part of society and stress free.
However, the significant reason why I believe people should do these things themselves is that it gives them satisfaction when they complete their own work by themselves. This trend has been becoming popular in nuclear families, which means that parents who are often busy in their work, and they feel guilt for their children upbringing. Therefore, they hire other people. If they complete the work by them, they feel more satisfied, which helps to reduce stress.
Finally, parents are the first teacher for their children, they try to imitate their parent’s behaviours and learn several things, such as they learn empathy towards others, respecting their elders and helping their parents in house hold chores. Although teaching children at younger age can be stressful, it helps to strengthen their family bonds.
To sum up, even though taking help from others can be beneficial for people who earn less salary, I believe that those who take up the responsibilities of their work feel more satisfied and improve their family bonds. In my opinion, people should strike a balance for the work that is crucial for them or they can take help from others in case of emergency

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the reasons why people should perform tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding poverty is relevant but could be more deeply explored with specific examples. The section on parenting is well-intentioned but slightly repetitive in its focus on stress and guilt. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more nuanced analysis rather than just stating the points. Overall, the response is relevant and maintains a consistent focus on the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One major merits', 'However', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, there are some mechanical errors in the use of these devices, such as 'One major merits' (should be 'merit') and 'When they are, hired others' (awkward punctuation and phrasing). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical awkwardness, which makes the cohesion feel slightly mechanical at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'self-dependent', 'nuclear families', and 'empathy'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'complete their desires' (which is not a standard collocation) and 'do the work by themselves' (where 'perform' or 'undertake' would be more precise). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'those are under poverty' (should be 'those who are living in poverty'), 'When they are, hired others' (incorrect passive construction), and 'parents who are often busy in their work, and they feel guilt' (faulty sentence structure). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the control over these structures is not yet consistent enough for a higher band.
