Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, People are workaholic. They are so busy in the work and they don't have enough time to do something by their own. For that they hire people and pay them to do these activity. Some extend I agree to that is good to provide jobs to others but I think people should do their work by themselves.

First of all, I start with why is good way to create jobs to others. Today both partner are working and they are not able to do some activities , they like to hire someone who can work for them. That is a good earning source for some people. For example , house helpers or nannies are increasing because both husband and wife are doing job and they get time to look after for their children or parents, so people hire them to take care of kids or old people.

On the other, I believe that people should do their jobs by themselves specially things related to their family. Crime is incresing at alarming rate , so people have to alert while giving the responsibility of their love ones. Number of complains against house helpers or care taker is too high. Because of this reason , I think people should take their responsibility towards their family.

To conclude , It is good deed to create job for other but people should do their personal work by their own to consider today's situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, acknowledging the economic benefits of hiring help while arguing for the importance of personal responsibility. However, the development of ideas is limited, and the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement. The arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth; for instance, the point about crime is mentioned but not fully explored with specific, nuanced examples. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the issues raised.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'On the other', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the phrase 'For that they hire people' is slightly awkward. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to create a smoother, more natural flow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main points clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'house helpers', 'nannies', and 'responsibility'. However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and some word choices are imprecise or non-idiomatic, such as 'workaholic' used as a noun or 'doing job' instead of 'working'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'incresing' and 'complains' (should be 'complaints'). To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the work'), subject-verb agreement ('both partner are working'), and preposition usage ('look after for their children'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas. These errors do not usually impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically article usage and pluralisation, and proofread your work to catch minor mechanical errors before finalising your response.
