Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, people often hire somebody to do their house chores or looking after children rather than doing themselves or avoiding it. This is a positive development because it provides an opportunities for people those who are looking for part-time job or people who are not well-educated and lack of skills. I think people should focus on doing their things themselves rather than replying on someone.

The main benefit of providing work to others is to provide a job to people those who are illiterate and lack skills. This is because, those adults often fail to achieve job at professional corporation which requires skills such as team collaboration and problem-solving skill and degrees from well-known colleges. Ultimately by providing job to those netizens helps them to earn some money, hence it would be benefited for both job seeker and provider.

Although hiring someone offers some advantages, it has few disadvantages. The major drawback is that hired person often fail to provide love and affection which is provided greatly by their parents. Because they know how to deal with their own kids, hence not getting enough attention by parents can restrict children from developing basic skills which requires at early age. For example, toddlers often learn walking at the age of 2, however, due to less guidance from caregiver , child are often taking more time to learn that. Hence, if parents bring up their kids rather than hired person, it will be more beneficial in terms of gaining skills and trust towards them.

In conclusion, busy parents often hire someone to take care of their children and complete their daily household task, which helps uneducated people to earn money. However, parents has power to carry forward some skills to next generation that can often be challenging for hired person.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefit of hiring help and the personal responsibility of performing tasks. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the economic benefit for 'illiterate' or 'unskilled' workers is a bit narrow and could have been expanded to include broader societal impacts. The second part of the prompt is addressed, but the reasoning is slightly repetitive. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The main benefit', 'Although', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Ultimately by providing job to those netizens helps them'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the argument, which helps the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it lacks variety and precision. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'netizens' (which is used incorrectly here to mean unskilled workers) and 'fail to achieve job'. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'bad', and 'things'. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding informal or misused terminology. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a job', 'the age of 2'), subject-verb agreement ('parents has power'), and pluralization ('those who are looking for part-time job'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'child are often taking more time'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
