Student answer (Band 6.5)

Undoubtedly, it is possible to hire somebody for doing those tasks which people do not want to do by themselves, or due to a lack of time. This essay believes that doing these tasks themselves can be quite challenging, such as a lack of concentration on office work, so it is definitely a right decision to reduce work shortage. The main reasons behind this trend will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, the reason why people prefer to take help from someone in order to complete their household chores and take care of children is that most parents are working and they do not have sufficient time to fulfill personal tasks along with office work. Paying others for this is proven beneficial not only for parents but also for the people who are doing their tasks. In other words, people get a job that helps to improve their living style. Moreover, parents can easily focus on their office assignments and projects without the pressure of home tasks and kids' well-being. For illustration, in Canada, Most people are employed and they are unable to give equal time for their personal tasks; as a result, they hire babysitters who look after the children as well as the home.

Still, some people manage both personal and professional life together, which is not a bad decision. But according to a recent survey by the WHO, the stress levels of Canadian residents are increasing day by day due to a lack of management in their lives. To make it clear, they have responsibilities at work and home which are the big cause of stress. While giving half responsibility to others, will be useful for both sides.

In conclusion, although paying somebody for completing personal tasks can be expensive, it helps to reduce mental stress and focus on work as well as reduce employment shortage by offering jobs including as a babysitter, kitchen helper or cleaner.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether it is a good way to provide work and whether people should do these things themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of hiring help (reducing stress, creating jobs), the discussion on whether people 'should' do these things themselves is less balanced. You touch upon the idea that managing both is 'not a bad decision,' but this could be expanded with more nuanced arguments regarding personal growth or family bonding. The examples provided, such as the reference to Canada and the WHO, are relevant but could be more effectively integrated to support your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion,' which help the flow. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'To make it clear,' and 'While giving half responsibility to others, will be useful.' The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the WHO survey and the argument about hiring help could be smoother to ensure a more seamless progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'sufficient,' 'assignments,' and 'responsibilities.' There are some attempts at less common collocations, though some word choices are slightly imprecise or unnatural, such as 'reduce work shortage' (perhaps 'reduce unemployment') and 'give equal time' (perhaps 'devote sufficient time'). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Improving your control over collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms would enhance your lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'hiring somebody for doing those tasks' should be 'hiring somebody to do those tasks.' There are also issues with punctuation and sentence fragments, such as 'While giving half responsibility to others, will be useful for both sides,' where the comma incorrectly separates the subject from the verb. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally easy to follow, and the mistakes do not significantly impede communication.
