Student answer (Band 4.5)
Education plays a vital role in millions of individuals life . The concept of free education has generated the considerable debate among youngsters and government , However, I firmly believe that there should be a free education for everyone . To begin with , since the learning opportunity will be available to everyone it will be beneficial for the juveniles to study who are not able to attend the schools because of socio-economic burdens . To justify this statement , the study from World education Organizations supports that 70 percent of teenagers who have potential to learn are forced to sacrifice their opportunity to earn or another social aspect. Moreover, another benefit is that if the learning is free to all , more youngsters will be willing to study and make the nation more education which eventually leads to overall growth of the economy , for example, Finland is country which practice free education and 99 percent of population is educated in that country . However, there are few obvious negative aspects of free education as well , first and foremost is Financial burden on government , the authorities will have to increase the tax ratios as it will be financially not possible to spend millions on education . For instance , the country like India whose GDP is low they can never afford to levitate the demand of free education due to its financial resources. Although there will be opportunity to learn but this will not be very helpful for all the society as not everyone will be interested in education Thus, not benefitted from the subsides . Therefore, as per the above outlined opinions , I firmly believe that providing free education will always works into better future of country even though they have to struggle a bit for its resources to make it possible . Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 2.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the ethics and implications of paying others to perform household chores or childcare. However, the essay discusses the merits and drawbacks of free education. Because the student failed to address the task prompt entirely, the response cannot be assessed for task achievement regarding the specific question asked. In an official IELTS examination, this would result in a very low score for Task Response as the content is irrelevant to the instructions provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'However'. However, the logical progression is undermined by the fact that the content does not relate to the prompt. The use of referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between ideas is hindered by the lack of relevance to the topic. While the structure exists, the lack of a coherent argument related to the task makes it difficult to follow the intended logic.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is adequate for a basic discussion, but it is not tailored to the task. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make the nation more education' (should be 'educated') and 'levitate the demand' (should be 'alleviate'). The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary like 'socio-economic burdens' and 'subsidies', but these are used in the context of an irrelevant topic. The range is sufficient to express simple ideas but lacks the precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'millions of individuals life' (should be 'individuals' lives'), 'generated the considerable debate' (should be 'generated considerable debate'), and 'providing free education will always works' (should be 'work'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the frequency of grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
