It is sometimes possible to pay somebody to do things you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, for example, household chores or looking after children.
Is this a good way of providing work for others?
Should people do these things themselves?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Today we have quite a busy life, unlike old times, when both genders balanced affection and daily needs. Currently, we rely on hiring someone at home who could take care of our children and daily housekeeping activities, and I completely agree with it.
On one hand, both men and women are busy with working professions, either by commuting to the office or working from home. This is the reason why we need to employ someone to look at certain activities for our child and the daily workload to keep the house clean. For instance, our children can be helped with the morning hustle of getting ready, fixing the uniform, and dropping them off at the bus stand, and then, after cleaning the entire house, washing clothes and making food are the household activities. As a result, this gives a person a good amount of quick hourly money rather than working 9 am-5 pm like others.
On the other hand, if we try to put things in our way, we won't be able to cope with time management. This is because we too have our own schedules set for the day, and adjusting or making certain changes to it will hinder our work-life balance. For example, if we start our day with all work by ourselves, then at times of the job we will face dizziness and tiredness, which will impact our productivity at work. Consequently, we would decline in our value at work or be removed from the job, which will definitely affect us being unemployed.
To conclude, everyone looks for a job, including us; then why not employ people for our house as well, who can earn for their survival, and we could be happy to pay them as our life too gets balanced.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the impact on productivity is a bit repetitive, and the discussion on the social benefits of hiring help could be more nuanced. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, real-world examples that would elevate the response to a higher band. The conclusion is a bit simplistic in its reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing child care to household chores in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'hinder our work-life balance' and 'productivity,' which are used correctly. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'quick hourly money' instead of 'hourly wages' or 'remuneration,' and 'look at certain activities' instead of 'attend to' or 'manage.' The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist. For example, 'look at certain activities for our child' is awkward, and 'affect us being unemployed' is grammatically incorrect. There are also minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'at times of the job we will face dizziness.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band, which requires more frequent error-free sentences and better control over complex structures.
