Is this a good way of providing work for others?

Should people do these things themselves?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

These days humans usually tend to get their work done by someone else even if its their household chores or taking care of their offsprings. Mostly due to the increasing amount of either laziness or work load in their lives.

Research shows that due to the increasing use of digital media in the new generation, it has made them rely more on their hired workers to finish their daily life chores like doing laundry, cooking meals, cleaning their houses. It has made teenagers more dependent on others and these habits would affect their lives later when it would come to their career prospects. Similarly, parents who are busy building their career and who usually hire people to take care of their new born babies, end up missing their child and making good memories. This also affects the child's mental health overall as during these times, when they need most love and support from their parents, they get abandoned by them, resulting in childhood traumas and attachment issues.

On the other side, adults who are working in corporate, have beyond expectation workloads which are extremely difficult to finish in the given timelines due to which they have to do overtime shifts. Ultimately, which makes it difficult for them to look after their family and children. Therefore, they have the need to hire nannies to look after their families. This also bring out more opportunities for people who are in need for jobs like students, immigrants etc.

In conclusion, i believe people should be more independent with doing their basic chores everyday. Adults with a family should try to have a work-life balance so they could prioritise and cherish the important moments of their growing children. That being said, career also plays a very important role and in order to save more time they should hire people for some household works. This would also give a chance of employment to people who are in need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether this is a good way to provide work and whether people should perform these tasks themselves. You present a balanced view, acknowledging the economic benefits of job creation while highlighting the personal and developmental drawbacks of outsourcing domestic responsibilities. The position is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully developed. For instance, the link between digital media and reliance on hired help is asserted but not fully explained. Providing a more concrete example or a deeper analysis of the 'work-life balance' dilemma would strengthen the depth of your response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Similarly,' 'On the other side,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'Ultimately, which makes it difficult...' is a sentence fragment that disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence is grammatically complete will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'career prospects,' 'attachment issues,' and 'work-life balance' effectively. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'offsprings' (the plural of offspring is offspring) and 'working in corporate' (which should be 'working in the corporate sector'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoid informal phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your ideas clearly, but it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This also bring out'), punctuation errors, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Ultimately, which makes it difficult...'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they indicate a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence contains a clear subject and a finite verb.
