Should people do these things themselves?

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Due to hectic schedule sometimes, people do not find time to finish their various tasks to exemplify, household chores and taking care of children, consequently, they hire somebody to perform these tasks. I partially agree with the aforementioned notion.

There are plethora of positives to hire someone for daily tasks. The first and foremost is, hectic lifestyle. In the contemporary era, people do not have sufficient time to do basic works because they are busy in making more and more money. That is why they pay someone else to do such tasks. Some individuals are not wealthy, so they do work as care taker and other a few household jobs, to fulfil their basic needs to their family for example, food and shelter.

There are some drawbacks as well of depending on somebody else for some tasks. The major reason is, lack of moral etiquettes in children. Children who grown up without surveillance of parents or who brought up by maids will not only have lack of moral etiquettes but also will have lack of basic manner such as how to behave with elders, because their parents did not spend time with them they are busy in making money. Along with this, adolescents might join bad company, with the influence of such company they might adapt some bad habits which might put bad impact on their health too. Hence, parents should keep an eye on their offsprings.

To conclude, although it is good way to pay somebody to do household tasks because in this way people will have more time to make money, in my perspective children should be grown under the surveillance of parents because they learn basic manners from their family.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefit of providing work and the personal responsibility of household/childcare tasks. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the economic benefits for workers is brief and could be more deeply explored. The section on the drawbacks of hiring help is more developed, though it relies on generalizations about children raised by maids. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more nuanced examples to support the claims, as the current arguments are somewhat repetitive regarding the 'busy lifestyle' and 'making money' points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost is', 'Along with this', and 'To conclude'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'to exemplify, household chores'. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, even if the logical links between the economic argument and the social argument are not fully integrated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of phrases like 'making money' and 'hectic'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary (e.g., 'plethora', 'surveillance', 'aforementioned'), there are issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'lack of moral etiquettes' (etiquette is usually uncountable) and 'do work as care taker' (should be 'work as a caretaker'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'hectic schedule'), pluralization ('offsprings' is incorrect; 'offspring' is both singular and plural), and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are run-on or lack necessary commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. The student should focus on basic sentence construction and article usage to improve accuracy.
