Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people, nowadays hire someone to do the chores. The reasons are either they don't want to do it themselves or they don't have time to do. It can include a daily chores from cleaning to cooking and looking after children. In my opinion, it is a good way to give opportunity for earning. It is not necessary to do these things by yourselves.

Firstly, when you employ a person to do cleaning and looking after children, they get paid. This might can be helpful to the person who is not professionally capable to earn. With this phenomenon, they can earn money by simple work like cooking, keeping eye on kid, cleaning the house, doing dishes etc. With this they might be able to earn bread and butter. For example, many university students takes up the work of nanny, cooking or individual cleaning projects. This helps them to manage their expenses while they are studying.

Moreover, the professional work load is becoming hefty day by day. In this case, it is difficult to maintain a work-life balance. The daily tasks of home can contribute to the stress. As a result, a person's mental health can be compromised. When they can pay someone to do their work, they can return to the home without any worries. Additionally, they can spare some time for themselves. For example, if some one is there to look after kid and cook , they can go to gym. This saved hours can give some quality time for family.

To conclude, n my opinion, it is win win situation for the person who is looking for a work and the family who need an extra support to manage the household.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention university students as an example of those who benefit from employment, the discussion on whether people 'should' do these things themselves is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, you could expand on the potential downsides of outsourcing, such as the loss of personal responsibility or the impact on family bonding, to provide a more balanced and nuanced argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'As a result' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits for the worker and the benefits for the employer could be more sophisticated. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the central topic of each paragraph is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'work-life balance', 'compromised', and 'professional work load'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'keeping eye on kid' (should be 'keeping an eye on children') and 'earn bread and butter' (usually 'earn a living' or 'make ends meet'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the overall range is somewhat limited, and some phrasing is repetitive. Improving your control over collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary would enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'This might can be' (double modal), 'many university students takes up' (subject-verb agreement), and 'return to the home' (unnecessary article). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors like 'n my opinion' and missing articles before nouns. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band for accuracy.
