Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, a significant number of working professionals devote most of their time in the office. As a result, they hire a domestic helper or a nanny to look for their house or children. While many people believe that this is a good way of providing employment for others, others claim that this is a serious concern about the safety of a house or the children.

To begin with, most of the working professionals work for longer hours at the office. They often worried about their house and children. Therefore, they hire a domestic helper who can clean their house. Also, they hire a nanny to feed and take care of their child, particularly in their absence. Moreover, it is a great way of providing employment to the needy people. Most importantly, as it does not require any specific qualification, anyone can apply.

On the other hand, others argue that this is a serious concern about a house and a child's safety. Many people hire any random person to take care of their house and children. Therefore, trusting any random person can result in safety issues. Most importantly, when a child spends most of his time with a nanny, tend to look for the same person even when his parents are nearby, As a result, it weakens relationship bond between parents and children. Moreover, leaving an important stuff on someone's trust can lead to a serious safety concern such as theft.

In conclusion, despite the fact that domestic helpers and nannies can take care of people's house and children, trusting a random person blindly can result in safety issue. Therefore, A person should either hire a trustworthy or manage his belongings on their own.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the personal responsibility of household tasks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about providing employment is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of its broader economic or social impact. Similarly, the argument regarding the 'weakening relationship bond' is a relevant point, but it lacks specific examples or deeper analysis to fully support the claim. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted, such as the sentence 'Most importantly, when a child spends most of his time with a nanny, tend to look for the same person even when his parents are nearby'. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother with more varied linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'house', 'children', and 'random person'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'domestic helper' and 'employment', the phrasing is often simplistic. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'look for their house' (should be 'look after') and 'leaving an important stuff' (should be 'leaving important tasks' or 'responsibilities'). A wider variety of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'most of the working professionals work for longer hours' (unnecessary 'the'), 'they often worried' (tense error), and 'tend to look for the same person' (missing subject 'the child'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in complex sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, as the control over complex structures is not yet consistent.
