Student answer (Band 5.0)

We live in a world of technology these days. While the internet brings with it clear advantages, the problems in terms of control and security of information outweighs the advantages.

To what extent do you agree ?

In this sophisticated technological era, even though the internet has several benefits, controling and protecting an information on the internet has more challenges than advantages. I strongly agree with the statement, and this essay will elaborate on the reasons behind my position.

To begin with, there are several issues with the security of data. First and foremost, one country with data centres can take advantages over enemy country to fulfill their geopolitical interests. For instance, a country like USA is home of many multinational organizations that have developed social media apps. These applications are used by billions of people across the world. While companies promiss that data is encrypted and secured, the government of USA access and use it frequently.

Another major aspect is that eventhough companies spend a sheer volume of money on maintenance and cyber security, many websites is attacked by hackers annually. To elaborate, enormous number of people lose money due to leaked credir card or debit card details on the internet. The number of complaints against a cyber fraud is rising rapidly across the world. Moreover, teenager girls and their families suffer a lot when their private photos and videos gets leaked on social sites. Many girls cosequently attempt to commite suicide.

To conclude, although internet is revolutionary for the world, appropriate actions should be taken by higher authorities in order to address such problems related to privacy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the ethics and implications of paying others to perform household chores or childcare. However, you have written an essay about internet security, data privacy, and cybercrime. Because you have failed to address the task instructions entirely, the score for Task Achievement is severely impacted. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt and ensure your ideas directly relate to the specific question asked. In an exam setting, it is vital to identify the core topic—in this case, outsourcing personal tasks—before beginning your plan.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'For instance', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, because the content does not relate to the prompt, the logical progression is disconnected from the task requirements. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the flow of ideas within the paragraphs is generally easy to follow, even though the subject matter is irrelevant to the prompt provided.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a reasonable range of vocabulary, such as 'sophisticated', 'geopolitical', 'multinational', and 'revolutionary'. However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'controling' (controlling), 'promiss' (promise), 'credir' (credit), 'cosequently' (consequently), and 'commite' (commit). While you attempt to use more complex vocabulary, the errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, focus on accuracy in spelling and ensure that your word choices are precise and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'protecting an information' (protecting information), 'one country... can take advantages over enemy country' (take advantage over an enemy country), and 'many websites is attacked' (are attacked). Additionally, 'teenager girls' should be 'teenage girls', and 'gets leaked' should be 'get leaked'. These errors occur frequently, though they do not usually prevent the reader from understanding your intended meaning. Increasing your control over subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your score.
