Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the contemporary social landscape, people are very much occupied in their lives, that they hardly find time to do some works themselves. While it is acceptible to assign some tasks to others by paying them, However; I am inclined to believe that, It is crucial to find time themselves for important things like looking after childreno or preparing food.

Firstly, children's minds are very tender and naturally feel safe around parents no matter how much better care they get from others. In addition, it also creates a strong sense of attachment and love between the child and the parent. The mother has a good idea of the child regarding food, sleep, and other personal care details which the private caretakers don't have. Some things like cooking food, are also important to be done at home rather than employing someone or ordering food from outside because of the untidy and poor quality of outside food.

On the other hand, it is not always possible to do every job on one's own in this fast-paced lifestyle. As most of the populace are working, it is difficult to pull time from their busy schedule and basic tasks like cleaning the home and washing clothes. Moreover, some tasks need more skill and efficiency rather than time. In times like these, it is very convenient to take help or employ someone. As a result, you dedicate more time to the productive work that you do.

In conclusion, not every task needs to be done on your own, or by others. It is essential to strike a balance between the two which depends on our ability and time. If handled properly all the works can be done very smoothly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: whether paying others is a good way to provide work and whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding providing work for others is touched upon but could be expanded with more specific examples of economic benefits or the nature of the service industry. The discussion on personal responsibility is better developed, particularly regarding childcare. To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the prompt receive equal depth of analysis and provide more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the transition between the idea of 'providing work' and 'personal responsibility' could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are slightly disjointed, such as the opening sentence which contains a minor punctuation error that affects the flow of the introduction.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'contemporary social landscape' and 'fast-paced lifestyle'. However, there are minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'acceptible' (acceptable) and 'childreno' (children). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring accurate spelling of common terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues. For example, the opening sentence has a comma splice and an unnecessary comma after 'However'. There are also minor errors in article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'all the works' (which should be 'all the work'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while focusing on punctuation accuracy would significantly improve this score.
