Student answer (Band 5.0)

Immigration has a major impact on the society.

- What are the main reasons of immigration?

- To what consequences can it lead?

The community is heavily influenced by the immigration in many different ways. This essay will elaborate on the possible reasons and its potential outcomes.

Nowadays, an enormous number of people migrate from their home country to another one. The primary driver that catalyze this trend is the rising global geopolitical tension among several nations. To elaborate, multiple countries have officially involved in war. As a result, governments are unable to prioritize the developement and improvement of public lifestyle due to disproportionate amount of spending on defence. Due to this approach, a huge number of people leaves the country to seek safety and better opportunity. For instance, due to an ongoing war in Middle-Eastern region and Gaza, a huge number of individuals travelled to European and North American continents.

In a long term, this tendency leads to numerous positive outcomes to the society. Citizens from different nationalities share their cultures and traditions with each others. People get opportunity to learn from each other and contribute efficiently in the growth of the nation. A pertinent illustration of this is the USA, a country which was built by immigrants, is considered as the most powerful economy in the world. Moreover, large-scale migration increases diversity in the community. This helps a person to change their perspective and reduce the racism. It is observed that a person living in diverse environment tends to have welcoming behaviour

To conclude, immigration is advantageous for the society and policymakers should encourage locals to welcome immigrants.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 2.0

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the ethics and implications of paying others to perform household chores or childcare. However, you have written an essay about the reasons for and consequences of immigration. Because you have failed to address the specific task instructions provided, the response cannot be assessed for task achievement in relation to the prompt. In an actual IELTS examination, this would result in a very low score for Task Response as the content is irrelevant to the question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To elaborate', 'As a result', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. While the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the internal structure of the text itself is coherent and follows a standard essay format, which demonstrates an ability to organize ideas effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a reasonable range of vocabulary, including terms like 'geopolitical', 'disproportionate', 'pertinent', and 'advantageous'. There are some minor errors, such as 'developement' (spelling) and 'catalyze' (subject-verb agreement: 'drivers that catalyze'). Despite these, the vocabulary is generally sufficient to express your ideas clearly. You attempt to use academic language, which is appropriate for the IELTS writing task, though the choice of words is applied to the wrong topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'heavily influenced by the immigration' (incorrect article usage), 'multiple countries have officially involved in war' (passive voice error), and 'a huge number of people leaves' (subject-verb agreement). While these errors are noticeable, they do not significantly impede the reader's understanding of your points. You show an attempt to use complex structures, but control over them is inconsistent.
