Student answer (Band 4.5)

Yes its a good way of providing work for others because life have been already programmed by God in such a way that some people must work under others to earn a living .Everyone is not financially successful there people who find it hard to attain a degree in school for a high paying jobs or people who wasn't successful in their businesses can find means of surviving thereby working for others who are financially stable or doesn't have time to attend to a particular household chore.

There are people that was born in poor family background and such people doesn't have sponsor that will train them in school or have the capital to start a business of their own so i think it's good sometimes to pay somebody to do things we can't do or have time for .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 140 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the student attempts to address both parts of the prompt—discussing the provision of work and whether people should perform tasks themselves—the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. The response reads more like an introduction than a full essay. To achieve a higher band, the student must expand on their points with detailed explanations and relevant examples, ensuring the essay structure is fully fleshed out to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks a clear structure, consisting of only two short paragraphs. There is a lack of logical progression between ideas, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often mechanical. For instance, the transition between the idea of 'God's plan' and the economic reality of employment is abrupt. The paragraphing is insufficient for an essay of this type. To improve, the student should use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. Phrases like 'financially successful' and 'household chore' are used correctly, but there is a lack of variety and precision. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'life have been already programmed', which is unnatural. The student relies on simple, everyday language and struggles to incorporate less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. Expanding the vocabulary to include more academic or topic-specific terms would significantly improve the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'life have been' instead of 'life has been' and 'there people who' instead of 'there are people who'. The sentence structures are predominantly simple or contain errors in complex construction, such as 'people who wasn't successful'. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and pluralization. A greater variety of complex sentence structures is required for higher bands.
