Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 111 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. While you touch upon the idea that hiring help provides work for others, the second part of the prompt—whether people should do these things themselves—is barely introduced and not developed at all. The response ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents any meaningful exploration of the arguments. To improve, you must ensure you provide a balanced discussion for both parts of the question and expand your ideas with specific examples and reasoning to meet the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While there are some attempts at logical flow, such as using 'This is a reason' to connect the need for help with the act of hiring, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall coherence. Paragraphing is minimal, and the lack of a conclusion or a fully developed body paragraph hinders the progression of ideas. To improve, focus on planning your response with a clear introduction, two distinct body paragraphs addressing each part of the prompt, and a concluding summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally simple and repetitive. You use some basic idiomatic expressions like 'cherry on a cake,' but the overall range is limited. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'getting jobs is a very hard thing' and 'everyone have to do,' which suggests a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to employment, domestic life, and socioeconomic impacts, while ensuring that your word choices are natural and accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have to do,' 'Each human depend on'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('if someone get a job'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. The abrupt ending also leaves the final sentence grammatically incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation. Once these are consistent, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using subordinating conjunctions to link your ideas more effectively.
