Student answer (Band 6.5)

A growing number of people prefers to hire a help for basic household chores and childcare when they are lacking time or due to personal preferences. I firmly believe that it is a best way to provide employment to others and it is not necessarily important to do all the things at their own.

One of the most significant reasons is that it enhances the employment rate in the economy.

For such kind of work, one does not need any specific qualifications to get hired such as nannies or caregivers. It creates an employment opportunities for them on the basis of their experiences which gives them a chance to earn an income and raise their standard of living. Another reason to be considered is, it helps in boosting the economy rate. When majority of the population is working and bear their own expenses while paying the required taxes, is helping an economy to rise. As a result, these employment generation helps the economy to grow and help the government.

I do not believe that it is necessarily important to do household chores at own. The foremost reason is that working people is lacking time and do not have energy to do house cleaning, so they prefer to hire a cleaner. Furthermore, hiring professionals help them in focusing on work and spend time with the families. To take an example, the caregivers are professional and experienced person to take care of the babies and help the moms to take care of themselves while doing their jobs.

To conclude, I strongly agree that hiring people not only enhances the employment rate, but also inclines the economy as a whole. Moreover, there is no relevance to do all home chores at own because sometime it requires professional or experienced hands to complete the task.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefits of hiring help and the personal necessity of doing chores oneself. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the economic impact. While the arguments are relevant, they could be more deeply explored with more specific examples beyond general statements about 'nannies' or 'cleaners'. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall depth of the argument remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one, which is characteristic of a band 6.5 or 7.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the most significant reasons', 'Another reason', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'is helping an economy to rise'. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher level of cohesion. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall clarity of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band. There are some repetitive phrases, such as 'employment rate' and 'economy'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'inclines the economy' or 'do all home chores at own'. While the meaning is always clear and the range is sufficient to discuss the topic, the student relies on common, general vocabulary rather than demonstrating a more flexible or idiomatic command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several recurring grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('a growing number of people prefers', 'working people is lacking') and incorrect prepositional usage ('at own' instead of 'by themselves'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with spacing after periods. A greater variety of error-free complex structures would be needed to reach the band 7 level.
