Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 129 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks two distinct questions—whether this is a good way to provide work and whether people should do these things themselves—the response only touches upon the necessity of household chores without fully addressing the economic or social implications of hiring help. The ideas are underdeveloped, and the response is far too brief to provide the necessary depth or supporting examples required for a Task 2 essay. Consequently, the response is severely limited in its ability to address all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction, the transition into the main body is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'First and foremost'. Paragraphing is insufficient, as the essay essentially consists of one long, underdeveloped paragraph. The logical progression of ideas is hindered by the brevity of the text and the lack of clear links between the arguments presented. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'do garbage' instead of 'take out the trash' and 'healthy like' instead of 'healthy lifestyle'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You rely on very simple, everyday language, and there are frequent spelling and collocation errors that occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific terms would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'everyone have work' and 'Individuals have lots of works'. Sentence structures are largely simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'if their home is not cleaned and they will come after finishing their work, you can not watch like that'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
