Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people have option to pay someone to do their house work and take care of their children, if they do not have time or they are unable to do these things. I think, this can be a good source of income for individuals, who are facing unemployment. However, people ought to do some household chores by themselves to maintain their physical fitness.

By offering work to others is a kind of genuine help for those, whose looking for work. Workers can earn good money to providing their good services. They can initiate their career as a fresher, because most employers are not accepting recent graduate individuals. So, this is a good platform for them, which is provided by people, who do not have time to take care of their children.

Indeed, people has been working long hours and they can hire someone to complete their house work and looking after children. This trend brings not only poor health, but also tends to weak connection between parents and children. They can do some household chores to keep healthy, whenever they have time and try to spend some time with their children as well.

People can save their time and utilize it in other activities, and workers can get a source of income, which enhance their living style. However, people need to do their work own to make more responsible and balance their professional and family life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefits of hiring help and the personal value of doing chores oneself. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention that hiring help provides income for the unemployed, the argument could be strengthened with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the societal impact. The conclusion is incomplete, which prevents a full summary of your position. To improve, ensure each body paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a fully developed supporting argument, and always complete your final paragraph to provide a sense of closure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Indeed', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'By offering work to others is a kind of genuine help'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending of the final sentence disrupts the overall flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will help you achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unemployment', 'initiate', and 'professional'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'tends to weak connection' (should be 'leads to a weaker connection') and 'do their work own' (should be 'do their own work'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary lacks the precision required for higher bands. Focusing on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms will help you express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people has been working', 'employers are not accepting') and article usage ('the' vs 'a'). There are also issues with verb forms, such as 'whose looking for work' instead of 'who are looking for work'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is essential.
