Student answer (Band 6.0)

People nowadays are paying someone who can do work for them such as cleaning of the house and babysitting because of the busy schedules. Although it can help people to earn from this kind of jobs, I believe individuals can try to spend time doing such work by themselves as it could be risky.

To begin with, people are being busier with their everyday life routine and feel tired when it comes to the household work. Therefore, they hire someone who can provide assistance with all that duties. I believe it create opportunities for people to earn as a side income. However, the crime rate is increasing rapidly thesedays which include child abuse, kidnapping, sexual harassment and robbery. Moreover, there is a significant rise in the number of cases associated with robbery and kidnapping. As a result, it could be a life threatening event.

On the other hand, doing the household work could be beneficial for one's health as it includes physical activities. In terms of looking after babies, I believe parents can take care of the babies in a certain way an unknown person would not be able to do. Additionally, parents would not only take good care of the babies but also be more productive and could teach them good manners. Moreover, doing things by themselves make them productive and energetic.

In conclusion, Although people are likely to pay someone to do things like household chores and babysitting, they should do it by themselves as there might be threatening to the children.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing work for others and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention that hiring help creates side income, the argument regarding the risks of hiring strangers (crime, abuse) is a bit repetitive and lacks nuance. The second body paragraph touches on health and parenting, but these points are not fully extended with concrete examples or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation or a specific example, rather than just stating the point and moving on to the next.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally choppy. For instance, the transition between the economic benefit of hiring help and the safety concerns in the first body paragraph is abrupt. Improving the way you connect sentences within paragraphs would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'household chores', 'side income', and 'sexual harassment'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is some repetition of basic words like 'work', 'people', and 'things'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'do work', you could use 'delegate tasks' or 'outsource responsibilities'. Additionally, be careful with word forms, such as 'thesedays' (should be 'these days') and 'all that duties' (should be 'all those duties').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'people are being busier' (should be 'people are becoming busier'), 'it create opportunities' (should be 'it creates opportunities'), and 'there might be threatening to the children' (should be 'it might be threatening to the children'). These errors do not usually impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more consistent control over subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy will help improve your score.
