Student answer (Band 6.5)

The trend of hiring professional people to finish other people's work by means of saving time and efforts, are getting common nowadays. Considering providing employment opportunities along with less burden on people are the positive side of this trend, while people often face many consequences if they are doing these things alone.

People hire professionals can generate job opportunities in the society. This is because people often hire third parties to do their work; consequently, third parties would hire more professional people in their team that means more people will get job with reasonable wage. For example, if the moving company will get more customer to move their stuffs from one house to another house, they will hire more deserving candidates with good pay who have relevant experience.

Besides employment, people can reduce their stress-level. The reason behind this is that people can focus on their work without any tension as they take help from other people to do their work. It will not only save their efforts but also save their time. Hence, they can spend this time in other useful activities. For instance, most of the working professionals often hire nanny to take care their child and do overtime if required without any tension.

On the other hand, if people do this things by themselves, then it will affect their mental health as well as their physical health. Since people committed to their work and any other priorities can make their work impossible to finish on time. As a result, this will increase their stress level that affect their mental health. Moreover, heavy lifting and bending can challenge their physical abilities. For exemplify, according to a survey in 2024, about 60% of people felt back issue while moving their heavy furniture in new house.

In conclusion, it is a good way to hire professional people to finish the work which can generate more employment chances as well as lower down stress level. However, if people try to do alone than it will create other problems too such as mental and physical challenges.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the benefits of providing employment and the question of whether people should perform these tasks themselves. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the argument regarding job creation is logical, the discussion on personal health is slightly repetitive and relies on a somewhat forced example regarding back injuries. To reach a higher band, the student should provide more nuanced analysis rather than just listing consequences. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a functional level rather than a fully extended one.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'besides', and 'on the other hand' are used to link ideas. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'The reason behind this is that people can focus on their work without any tension as they take help from other people to do their work.' Referencing is generally clear, but some transitions between sentences feel repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'employment opportunities', 'professional', and 'mental health'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'finish other people's work' instead of 'outsource tasks', 'do this things' (grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy), and 'lower down stress level' instead of 'reduce stress levels'. The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The trend... are getting common'), incorrect pluralization ('do this things'), and awkward phrasing ('For exemplify'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure often lacks the fluidity expected at higher levels. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
