Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, People are becoming more lazy than previous one, they don't want to do any kind of work themselves or they don't have enough time to do that work, because of that they get these works done by paying others.

To begin with, Is this a good idea to provide opportunities for others to do any types of work? So I think yes it is a good idea, because in this 21st century all individuals need to work and earn sufficient amount of money. There are many types of work which people gives to someone who are expert to do these works very well such as housekeeping, childcare, small repairing in their car or bike, fan or AC repairing in their home and many more. For that workers receive a good work which is related to their field and they earn good amount of money. For an instance, one of my neighbor wanted to do housecleaning but they both have a full time job, therefore they gave this work to a cleaning company and they did a solid work. So I also thought to give my housecleaning to them.

Furthermore, should individuals have to do these jobs themselves? I feel no, because they don't have a knowledge of a particular field which they want to do, even if they want to do themselves, so that particular items or things become useless. As an epitome, about a month ago, my car was stuck in the middle of the road and I started to do something near to the engine area and suddenly it will a small blast and become useless at that time so I called a mechanic to come at the spot and do something, because of that people never do this kind of work themselves.

To conclude, I feel there is a better to give expertise to do these works instead of do it themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the economic benefit of outsourcing tasks and the personal necessity of doing them oneself. However, the development is somewhat superficial. While you provide examples like car repairs and housecleaning, the arguments lack depth and nuance. For instance, the discussion on whether people 'should' do things themselves focuses almost entirely on a lack of skill, ignoring other potential reasons such as personal satisfaction, cost-saving, or the desire for independence. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas could be expanded to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'I also thought to give my housecleaning to them', where the pronoun 'them' refers back to a company mentioned in the previous sentence but feels slightly disconnected. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'do any kind of work', 'good amount of money', and 'do something'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'do a solid work' (should be 'did a good job') and 'give expertise to do these works' (should be 'hire experts'). To improve, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to the economy and personal responsibility, and avoid repeating simple verbs like 'do' and 'make' throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('people gives to someone'), incorrect verb tenses ('it will a small blast'), and awkward phrasing ('there is a better to give expertise'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and comma splices. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of basic sentence construction and tense consistency.
